Visitor arrivals for the first quarter of 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals increased by 11.1% year-on-year to 9,862,665 in the first quarter of 2025. Same-day visitors (5,823,384) rose by 21.5% year-on-year while overnight visitors (4,039,281) dropped by 1.1%. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors decreased by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.1 days, due to the growth in the proportion of same-day visitors in the total number of visitors. The duration of stay for same-day visitors (0.2 day) went down by 0.1 day year-on-year, while that for overnight visitors (2.2 days) remained unchanged.

50% of Employers have Yet to Pay Contributions — FSS Calls for the Prompt Use of the “Business & Associations Platform” and “Macao One Account”
As of 22 April, approximately 12,400 employers have yet to pay the obligatory system contributions for their employees under the Social Security System for the first quarter of 2025, accounting for around 50% of all obligated employers. As the payment deadline approaches and the number of people at service points increases, the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) urges employers and residents to use the “Business & Associations Platform” or “Macao One Account” to make payments as soon as possible to avoid overdue payments and long wait queues.

Maritime Museum to reopen on April 25
The Maritime Museum will reopen to the public on April 25, 2025 (Friday) following the completion of the facility repair and renovation works. The Museum opens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (admission until 5:30 p.m.) and closes on Tuesdays. It offers free admission and group guided tours. Macao, China attends the 81st UNESCAP session
The 81st session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) is being held in Bangkok, Thailand from 21 to 25 April 2025. To enhance the connection and exchange between Macao, China and other UNESCAP members, the Director of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (DSEDT), Mr. Yau Yun Wah, is attending the session as a delegate of Macao, China.

“2025 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair” opens for applications from local Macau enterprises. Eligible SMEs can exhibit at a discounted rate of MOP 1,400.

The 2025 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair (2025GMBPF), organised by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, will be held from 24 to 27 July at Cotai Expo Hall D, The Venetian Macao. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Macao interested in attending the event can submit their applications by 9 May via the IPIM’s online application system for event projects at macaomice.ipim.gov.mo.

Participating in MICE Events and “Tourism + MICE Product” Promotion Seminar in South Korea and Japan to Showcase Investment Opportunities of Macao-Hengqin Synergistic Development
The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) conducted MICE and investment promotion activities in South Korea and Japan from 15 to 18 April to introduce Macao-Hengqin’s MICE strengths and business opportunities to Korean and Japanese enterprises, commerce and trade associations, encouraging them to have investment discussion to expand international co-operation by leveraging the integrated development of Macao-Hengqin. Additionally, IPIM participated in the “Macao Tourism + MICE Product Updates Seminar & Travel Mart” hosted by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in Tokyo and attended the opening ceremony of the Experience Macao roadshow.

Inaugural Zhuhai-Hengqin-Macao Joint Investment Promotion in Portuguese-speaking Countries Assisting the Greater Bay Area Enterprises in Expanding into the Brazilian Market
The People’s Government of Zhuhai Municipality, the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, and the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of the Macao Special Administrative Region jointly organised the “China (Zhuhai, Hengqin, Macao) - Brazil (Sao Paulo) Economic and Trade Exchange Seminar” in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 16 April. This was the first collaborative economic and trade event among Zhuhai, Hengqin, and Macao in a Portuguese-speaking country (PSC), attracting the participation of more than 180 Chinese and Brazilian government and business delegates. The event highlighted the economic and trade strengths as well as industrial exchanges of these three regions, culminating in the signing of two co-operation agreements and four strategic co-operation agreements. Secretary of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Hengqin Working Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee Chen Yong, Consul General of China in Sao Paulo Yu Peng, Director of the Sao Paulo Investment Promotion Agency Alessandra Andrade, representing the Mayor of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Co-operation Zone Wu Chuangwei, as well as IPIM Director Sam Lei, attended the seminar.

Hugo Calderano and Sun Yingsha crowned champions of ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group
The finals of the ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2025 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), organized by the Sports Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and World Table Tennis Management Group Limited (WTMG), and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, were held today (20 April) at the Galaxy Arena. Hugo Calderano clinched the Men’s World Cup title and the Evan’s Cup, while Sun Yingsha defended her Women’s World Cup title and took home the Hammarlund Cup.
