2025 Sands China Macao International 10K sets off this Sunday

Organized by the Sports Bureau, Sands China Ltd., and the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM), the 2025 Sands China Macao International 10K will take place on 16 March (Sunday). The Organizing Committee held a pre-event press conference today (14 March) to introduce the competition details and relevant information.


Cultural Affairs Bureau and gaming operators organize “Community Arts Carnival” of the “Macao International Parade” to be held on Sunday at Iao Hon Market Park and the Leisure Area at Edf. Lok Yeung Fa Yuen showcasing the charm of the arts in the community

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), SJM Resorts, S.A., Sands China Ltd., MGM, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Wynn Resorts (Macau), S.A. and Melco Resorts & Entertainment, the “2025 Macao International Parade”, celebrating the 26th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland, will be held on 23 March (Sunday). Prior to the Parade, a “Community Arts Carnival” will be held on 16 March at the Iao Hon Market Park and the Leisure Area at Edf. Lok Yeung Fa Yuen, aiming at promoting culture and arts in the community and allowing the public to experience the charm of different cultures and arts.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – February 2025

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (14 March) that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP241.5 billion (USD30.15 billion) at the end of February 2025. The reserves increased by 0.4% from the revised value of MOP240.4 billion (USD29.97 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-February 2025 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 92.1% of pataca M2 at end-January 2025.


CE calls for effort to turn ‘Two Sessions’ spirit into practical steps

The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, today called for further effort to translate the spirit of the “Two Sessions” into concrete actions. He also urged continuous innovation to support Macao’s development, as Macao participated in, and contributed to, the country’s modernisation. In addition, Mr Sam urged greater contributions to build China as a strong nation and for the country’s great rejuvenation.



IAM to carry out maintenance of booking, reception and queuing management system

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out maintenance of information system from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on 15 March. During this period, the booking, reception and queuing management system will be out of service intermittently. IAM appeals to the public for their understanding.


UM Macao Humanities Forum explores Confucianism and Confucius

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of the University of Macau (UM) held the Macao Humanities Forum, where Chen Zhi, president and chair professor of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC), delivered a lecture titled ‘Was Confucius the founder to the Ru school, or did the Ruists exist before Confucius?’. The lecture attracted a large audience of faculty and students.


MPU Hosts Symposium on Global Carbon Neutrality Trends to Boost Sustainable Development of Tourism Industry

To support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and promote the green, low-carbon development of Macao’s tourism industry, the Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies (CJT) at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) hosted a symposium titled “Global Carbon Neutrality Trends and ESG Compliance in the International Gaming Industry”. The event invited Cicy Shi, Vice President of the Macao Finance Technology and Education Development Association, and Justin Hu, Special Research Fellow, as key note speakers, alongside representatives from 6 integrated resort enterprises, gaming equipment suppliers, the Macao Emission Exchange, as well as MPU teachers and students, to discuss sustainable development within the global climate governance framework.


UTM scholars part of a team awarded Prestigious National Social Science Grant

The National Social Science Fund of China has awarded a prestigious 2024 grant for Special Research on Cultural Heritage Protection and Inheritance to a transformative project titled “Mechanisms and Pathways for Public Participation in Cultural Heritage Protection.” This research is spearheaded by Chief Expert (首席專家) Prof. Xu Honggang of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), which serves as the Responsible Unit (責任單位).


BVI Premier visited UTM, to explore more collaboration in cultivating tourism professionals

Dr Natalio D. Wheatley, Premier and Minister of Finance for the British Virgin Islands (BVI), recently led a delegation to the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) and met with UTM members, including Rector Fanny Vong, Vice-Rector Connie Loi and Registrar Louisa Lam, to engage in extensive exchanges on strengthening collaboration in nurturing tourism professionals.
