Macao Selected as “Brilliant Star” MICE Outstanding Destination by the “MICE” Golden Five-Star Selection Activity
The national MICE industry’s important annual event—the 2025 International MICE (Xiong’an) Co-operation and Exchange Conference (hereinafter referred to as the “MICE Conference”)—was held from April 9 to 11 at the Xiong’an Convention and Exhibition Centre. Senior representatives and experts from various regional MICE professional organisations attended the event. During the conference, the “MICE” Golden Five-Star Selection was conducted, where the organising committee performed a preliminary screening through big data analysis, followed by two rounds of anonymous scoring by the selection committee.

Commissioner Ao Ieong Seong Meets with Chief Prosecutor General of the People’s Procuratorate of Guangdong Province Feng Jian
The Commissioner Against Corruption, Ao Ieong Seong, welcomed the visit ofthe delegation led by the Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Chief Prosecutorof the People’s Procuratorate of Guangdong Province, Feng Jian, at the headquarters of the CCAC today (10th April). Both sides exchanged views on how the procuratorial organs and law-enforcement departments of the two places may cooperate in case investigation as well as the case investigation procedures.

UM releases revised macroeconomic forecast for Macao 2025
Based on the latest data released by the Macao SAR Government, the Centre for Macau Studies (CMS) and the Department of Economics of the University of Macau (UM) have revised the macroeconomic forecast for Macao 2025. The research team has adjusted Macao’s baseline GDP growth in 2025 downwards to 6.8%; while the baseline forecasts for other major economic variables are: exports of services will grow by 6.8%; private consumption expenditure will increase by 3.8%; the CPI inflation rate will be 0.7%; the overall unemployment rate will be 1.7%; the unemployment rate of Macao residents will be 2.3%; and the Macao SAR Government’s current revenue will be MOP 116.8 billion.

Cultural Affairs Bureau calls for exhibition proposals of local curatorial projects for “Art Macao 2025” and the Preliminary Selection for the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia – Collateral Event from Macao, China
Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, MGM, Sands China Ltd., SJM Resorts, Limited and Wynn Resorts Macau, the “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025” (hereinafter referred to as “Art Macao 2025”) will be held this summer. IC calls for exhibition proposals of the “Local Curatorial Project”, one of the key programmes of “Art Macao 2025” and the Preliminary Selection for the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia – Collateral Event from Macao, China, from today until 6 May. The selected proposals will be awarded a subsidy in the maximum amount of MOP500,000 for the organisational expenses of the exhibition. All individuals engaged in contemporary art are welcome to participate.

UM holds Sixth Language and Culture Day
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of the University of Macau (UM) held the Sixth UM Language and Culture Day. Themed ‘Cherish Mother Tongues, Embrace All Cultures’, the event aimed to promote the preservation of language and culture and bridge the gap of intercultural communication. Students and faculty from different countries and regions showcased UM’s cultural diversity through a series of performances and workshops, attracting over 200 UM members.

Intermittent interruption of certain electronic services due to maintenance of IAM information system
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out maintenance of the information system from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on 12 and 26 April. During the periods, certain electronic services will be interrupted intermittently. The public are advised to pay attention to the arrangement.

Statistics on electronic payment transaction value – Restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for February 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that, in the first two months of 2025, the electronic payment transaction value (hereinafter referred to as transaction value) for restaurants & similar establishments increased by 2.1% year-on-year to MOP2.41 billion, with Western Restaurants seeing notable growth (+19.7%). The transaction value for retail trade dropped by 18.9% to MOP9.28 billion in the first two months. Decline was recorded among various types of retail activities, with Department Stores and Leather Goods Retailers showing respective decreases of 28.1% and 26.8%.
