Introduction
Tobacco Prevention and Control office is subordinated to the General Health Care Sub-Board of the Health Bureau. In accordance with Administrative Regulation no. 34/2011, the terms of reference of the Tobacco Prevention and Control Office are:
Terms of reference
- To propose guiding principles of tobacco prevention policy according to the recommendations issued by international organization;
- To coordinate joint operations on tobacco control;
- To assist the bodies responsible for no-smoking sites in order to ensure compliance with legislations on the prevention and control of tobacco;
- To ensure, within the legal and regulatory framework, quality control of tobacco products intended for public consumption;
- To disseminate health information and promote education campaigns on the harmful effects of smoking and the importance of smoking cessation;
- To make public to consumers the ingredients used in the manufacture of tobacco products and their amount;
- To propose and promote measures for the prevention and control of tobacco, as well as assess the effectiveness of its implementation;
- To prepare the report on the monitoring and evaluation of tobacco consumption;
- To handle the procedures resulting from the application of the sanction system under the legislation on tobacco prevention and control;
- To oversee compliance with the legislations on tobacco prevention and control.
