UM scholar appointed as APA-IUPsyS GMHF to work with World Health Organisation
Dr Brian Hall, an assistant professor from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), University of Macau (UM), has been awarded the first APA-IUPsyS Global Mental Health Fellowship (GMHF) by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) for the 2017-2018 period. This is the first time the fellowship has ever been offered, and it was awarded to a University of Macau scholar. The fellowship will give Dr Hall the opportunity to work on key initiatives related to the Mental Health Action Plan of World Health Organisation (WHO).

Cultural Affairs Bureau postpones three subsidy programmes
Due to the catastrophe caused by typhoon Hato, the Cultural Affairs Bureau decided to extend the application period of three subsidy programmes, including the “Financial Support for Local Association Activities/ Cultural Projects Programme”, the “Talent Training Programme in Arts Management” and the “Community Arts Projects Support Programme” for 2018, until 18 September.

MGTO and travel trade consent to resume tour groups to Macao from 2 September
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) conducted a meeting this morning (29 August) with representatives of travel agency and hotel industry associations for an exchange of opinions and an update on their latest situation. After thorough discussions and comprehensive evaluation of the conditions of different sides, MGTO and the travel trade have reached a consensus on the decision to resume tour group arrangements to Macao starting from 2 September.

Consumer Council conducts price survey on selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai and Macao
For the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June, Consumer Council on 29 August collects prices of fresh pork from wet markets and supermarkets for consumers’ reference. The mentioned data collected during 23 August to 29 August are used for comparing the average selling price of the same products from Zhuhai. The relevant data has been uploaded to the Council’s website for consumers’ reference.
