The 2022 MGM Macao International Regatta will be held mid next month

The 2022 MGM Macao International Regatta, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Ursa Major Sailing Event Management, co-organized by the Marine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macau Sailing Association, and title-sponsored by MGM, will be held from 13 to 16 January 2022. 37 teams from China and around the world will compete for the three championships. The 2022MGM Macao International Regatta plays a positive role in continuing to promote the development of sports in Macao. The organizers are hoping to nurture marine sports in Macao, to enrich local sporting events, and to support the work in consolidating Macao as the “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.





Melco Executive discusses Asian IR development with MPI students

The Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies of the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) recently invited Mr Kevin Benning, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Studio City at Melco Resorts & Entertainment, to give a seminar talk on the integrated resort (IR) development in Asia. This seminar was attended by around 50 participants, including undergraduate students in Gaming and Recreation Management, postgraduate students, as well as academic staff and researchers of the Centre.


MPI Seniors Academy Organized “Listening to Music, Relieving Stress” Workshop

In order to improve all aspects of elderly students’ health including body, mind and spirit as well as their quality of life, MPI Seniors Academy (ACS) organized a “Listening to Music, Relieving Stress” workshop and invited certified music therapist Ms. Christal Chiang as the guest speaker.

The opening ceremony of the “26th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (26th MIF), the “Macao Franchise Expo 2021” (2021MFE) and the “2021 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao)” (2021PLPEX) was held at Expo Hall B (Macao Pavilion) of The Venetian Macao at 12:00 pm today (10 Dec). This year’s three exhibitions are once again held concurrently at the same venue, combining the advantages of both online and offline platforms of the three exhibitions to help traders from all over the world to seize business opportunities through the MICE co-operation and exchange platform.


Unlawful seizure of aircraft exercise was deemed a success

The Exercise on the Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft was conducted in Macau International Airport early this morning simulating the scenario of a foreign registered aircraft destined to Macao being unlawfully seized by an armed political group. The hijackers demanded the Macao SAR Government to release their group leader who was imprisoned in Macao and pay the ransom. Macau International Airport immediately activated the airport emergency plan to resolve the crisis. All passengers and crew members were rescued. The exercise was deemed a success.


Mega travel platform holds summit in Macao for the first time Manifesting Macao’s advantages in “tourism + MICE”

The international one-stop tourism service platform — Trip.com Group organized its 2021 Global Partner Summit in Macao today (9 December), joined by over 1,700 global collaborative partners and industry delegates. As a special supporting organization of the Summit, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) leveraged the occasion to promote the diverse travel experiences Macao has to offer across the fields of “tourism +” among summit participants and pertinent media, while manifesting Macao’s strengths as an international MICE travel destination, which helped the city expand its source markets of leisure and business travellers.


Mortgage loans statistics – October 2021

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both decreased in October 2021. With regard to the outstanding balances, RMLs dropped whereas CRELs witnessed an increase.
