IAM calls on the public to protect facilities in hill forests and not to damage location distance posts

Hill forests in Macao are good places for public leisure, outings and being close to nature, and they are also the base for students to experience the conservation of natural ecology. In recent years, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has established distance posts with panels that carry geographic information along the walking trails in hill forests. They serve as supplementary location facilities to safeguard the safety of hikers. IAM urges hikers not to damage them to avoid losing their rescue function.


IPIM to Hold Livestream Training Sessions to Help Companies Improve Marketing Skills

The “Exhibitor Training Course for Macao Enterprises – Macao Exhibition Strategies”, organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), was held recently and attracted over 150 participants. Sessions on the second topic “Livestream Promotion for Products and Services” will be held on 2 and 17 June to teach participants marketing skills and techniques to yield best results in MICE events and online platforms. These sessions are free of charge, Macao enterprises are welcomed to join.

Electoral Affairs Commission urges voters to verify or update residential address before 31 May

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election issued a reminder that 31 May is the deadline for voters to provide to the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau any updated information regarding a change of residential address, as each voter will be assigned a polling station based on the address held on file.


Results of survey on manpower needs and wages for the 1st quarter 2021

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released results of the Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages for the first quarter of 2021. Survey coverage for this quarter comprises Manufacturing; Electricity, Gas & Water Supply; Hotels; Restaurants; Child-care and Elderly Care. As affected by the pandemic of novel coronavirus pneumonia, average earnings of full-time employees in March last year were notably dragged down as more employees were on unpaid leave in some industries. Due to the low base of comparison, average earnings in March this year generally increased.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for April 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 119 hotels & guesthouses were open for business in April 2021, an increase of 9 year-on-year; number of available guest rooms rose by 10.5% to 37,000. Data on hotels & guesthouses designated for medical observation were excluded in the compilation of the results. The average occupancy rate of guest rooms surged by 45.9 percentage points year-on-year to 58.5% and the rate of 3-star hotels stood at 68.5%.


UM’s Portuguese Language Summer Course now open for applications

The University of Macau (UM) is committed to nurturing bilingual talent and has been offering a variety of courses for many years. One of these courses, the popular Portuguese Language Summer Course, will continue to be offered online this year between 5 July and 23 July. Students, teachers, translators, and those who are interested in the Portuguese language, aged 16 or above, are welcome to apply. The application deadline is 24 June.


List of the selected projects for the Film Scriptwriting Advanced Programme is announced

The selection process for Macao works in the “2021 Scripts in Focus — Film Scriptwriting Advanced Programme”, jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) of the Macao SAR Government, the Film Administration of Guangdong Province and Create Hong Kong, has been completed. Four Macao works out of 18 were selected by instructors You Xiaoying and Huang Ji, senior filmmakers from Mainland China, to participate in the programme, namely (in random order): Distance by Ho Hong Io, My Driver Father and Me by Niko Ho, Relationship by Chao Kin Kuan and The Bravest Man on Earth by Chan Nga Lei.


UM organises Integrated Resort Career Simulation Programme with elements of Greater Bay Area

The Integrated Resort Career Simulation Programme (IRCSP), organised by the Centre for Tourism and Integrated Resort Studies under the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Business Administration, has been well received since its launch in 2020. This year, the centre has arranged a number of experiential activities in collaboration with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, so that more students could receive useful information to aid their career planning and enhance their chances of finding a job in related industries or pursuing related courses.
