Ecological Pond in Avenida da Praia, Taipa opens on festivals and holidays

After planning and organising the ecological pond in the western section of Avenida da Praia, Taipa, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) adopted restricted opening of the pond for the sake of conservation. The area will now be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, so that the public can visit the area and learn about the biodiversity in the western section of the wetland.


Consumer price index (CPI) for June 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for June 2021 (102.50) went down by 0.08% year-on-year, smaller than the decrease in May (-0.51%) by 0.43 percentage points.


UM holds 7th Macau Symposium on Biomedical Sciences

The seventh Macau Symposium on Biomedical Sciences, organised by the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), kicked off today (23 July) at the university. A two-day hybrid event that involved both in-person and virtual elements, the symposium attracted over 300 biomedical experts, researchers, and students from China and abroad. Themed ‘Discovery’, this year’s symposium covers a wide range of topics in biomedical sciences.


CE to attend Legislative Assembly session on 10 August

(Macao – 23 July 2021) The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, will attend a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly on 10 August to answer Legislative Assembly members’ questions on Government policy and social issues.


UM, Macau Institute of Financial Services co-organise training course in cross-border wealth management

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) and the Macau Institute of Financial Services recently held a training course in cross-border wealth management. The course attracted over 70 participants, including financial services professionals and UM students. During the course, FBA faculty members and senior industry practitioners shared their professional knowledge and experience with the participants. The event was supported by the China Construction Bank’s headquarters in Beijing and the Bank of China Macau Branch.


“Consumer Online” platform will be unstable during Cloud Centre maintenance

As informed by SAFP, maintenance will be carried out from 24 July (Saturday) midnight to 0500AM for the Cloud Platform on the Cloud Computation Centre, “Consumer Online” e-service platform of the Consumer Council may not be stable during that time, “Macao Price Information Platform” app will be temporarily suspended during the mentioned period.

Concerning the joint and sole operations against illegal workers launched by the Public Security Police Force, the Labour Affairs Bureau and other authorities in June 2021 at construction sites, private flats, commercial and industrial establishments, etc., the figures are set out below.


The Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index Report Released, Demonstrating Macao’s Role in Infrastructure Development

The launch ceremony of “The Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index 2021” and “The Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index Report 2021” was held today (22 July) during the 12th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (12th IIICF). In addition to forecasting the short-term trends of the infrastructure sector, the Report also highlights Macao elements, and provides suggestions on how Macao can seize such opportunities as the 14th Five-Year Plan and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.


Art Macao Creative City Pavilion officially opens Showing the imagery of contemporary art cities in four exhibitions

“Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021”, followed by the successive launch of the Main Exhibition, Special Exhibition of Resorts and Hotels, Creative City Pavilion, Public Art Exhibition, Selected Works by Local Artists and Collateral Exhibition, triggers an upsurge of contemporary art, creating an immersive cultural atmosphere to the entire city as a gallery and an art garden. For the “Creative City Pavilion”, featured in “Art Macao” for the first time this year, the exhibition “Macao: City of Gastronomy - Bon Appétit!” was inaugurated on 22 July, at the Macao Contemporary Art Center - Navy Yard No. 1, kicking off a series of exhibitions in the “Creative City Pavilion”. The exhibition will be open to the public from 23 July. Admission is free and all are welcome to visit.


Registration for Direct Admission to bachelor’s degree programmes to open tomorrow

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the world, with ‘epidemic rebound’ occurring in a number of countries and regions, the University of Macau (UM) will accept applications from affected students for Direct Admission to bachelor’s degree programmes for the 2021/2022 academic year, taking into account the need of some fresh high school graduates who wish to study at overseas universities as well as the need of local students enrolled in bachelor’s degree programmes of non-local universities to stay in Macao for further studies. Applicants must meet the requirements for Direct Admission. The registration period is from 23 July to 26 July (6:00 pm).
