Macao joins the world again to promote Sustainable Gastronomy Day Fostering preservation of gastronomic culture through video production

Joining the rest of the world again to promote Sustainable Gastronomy Day, Macao produced a video sharing Macao’s unique gastronomic culture, recipes and culinary arts. It is part of the city’s endeavor to foster preservation of gastronomic culture as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and contribute to the sustainable development of Macao’s tourism industry and the world, progressing towards the implementation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.


Visitor arrivals for May 2020

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 16,133 visitor arrivals in May 2020, which represented a decline of 99.5% year-on-year and yet an increase of 46.1% month-to-month. Overnight visitors and same-day visitors totalled 9,115 and 7,018 respectively. The average length of stay of visitors extended by 4.1 days year-on-year to 5.3 days, as overnight visitors stayed longer for an average of 14.7 days (+12.4 days) on account of medical observation required for visitors upon arrival. Meanwhile, the duration for same-day visitors (0.2 day) remained unchanged.


MPI and ICBC Macau Sign Cooperation Protocol for Strengthening the Cultivation of Financial Talents

In order to accelerate the cultivation of young financial talents in Macao, promote moderate economic diversification of Macao, and jointly explore the innovative cooperation model between banks and higher education institutes, on 18 June 2020, the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) Limited (ICBC Macau) signed the ‘Strategic Cooperation Protocol’. Both parties will strengthen the cooperation, collaboratively promote the cultivation of interdisciplinary young financial talents, and enhance the development of featured finance in Macao.


Macao Human Resource Monitoring Survey (MHRM)

The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies Tourism Research Centre (ITRC) is now conducting survey data collection for Macao Human Resource Monitoring Study (MHRM). MHRM employs the random-digit dialing to draw a sample of eligible respondents. Selected respondents may opt to complete the questionnaire through telephone interview or fill in the online questionnaire via a given link. Qualified respondents who successfully participate will have a chance to win MOP1,000 supermarket coupons (10 sets in total).


Self-service application for ID card renewal extends to 24 hours a day

In response to the development of society and the need of Macao residents, the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) extends the self-service application for Macao SAR Permanent Resident Identity Card renewal to 24 hours a day as of today (17th June), enabling residents to go through formalities for ID card renewal at any time.


Hush!! Full Music 2020 – First online concert to be held on Sunday  Registration for workshops and short video competition now open

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the concert “Hush!! Full Music 2020” will be held from 21 June until August. A number of music activities will be held online and in different areas of the city, as well as a range of music workshops and the short video competition “HUSH!! 300 Seconds”. All are welcome to participate. The first concert “Music Day Online” will be held online this Sunday (21 June).


UM’s online workshop on IC advances in China attracts over 10,000 people

The Workshop on IC Advances in China (ICAC Workshop) 2020, which was jointly organised by the University of Macau (UM), Fudan University, and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), and co-organized by Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute was held successfully. More than 30 leading Chinese experts and scholars in the field attended the online workshop remotely to share their latest research findings. The live webcast of the workshop was watched by over 10,000 people from around the world, including professors, students, engineers, industry practitioners, and even dozens of venture capital investors. One third of the audience members were from companies and research institutes.



UM students win third prize at CIMA Global Business Challenge 2020

A team from the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) recently won a third prize at the Global Business Challenge (GBC) 2020 North Asia. The team was ranked among the top in the Hong Kong and Macao region alongside the City University of Hong Kong.


Individuals that have been in Beijing to undergo 14-day medical observation

Starting from noon, individuals who have visited Beijing 14 days prior to their arrival in Macao, are required to undergo a 14-day period of medical observation in Macao.
