ARTwarming Winter launches extra Shows Five more reasons for kids to smile

Due to the overwhelming demand, the Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be presenting five additional shows in the ARTwarming Winter series. Puppet musical Shh! We Have a Plan will be staged in two extra performances taking place on December 27 and 29, while the sensorial experience for babies The Garden of Spirited Minds will have three more shows scheduled from December 31 to January 2 at CCM’s Small Auditorium.


Credit card statistics –3rd quarter 2019

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the total number of personal credit cards issued by banks in Macao continued to rise in the third quarter of 2019. Both the credit card turnover and total repayments also registered growth from a year earlier.

UM students win gold prize at iGEM for engineering waste water purifying organism

A group of students from the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) recently won a gold prize at the Environment Track of the International Genetic Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition for a self-activating nanoparticle collector they developed, which provides a safe and cheaper alternative to the traditional way of purifying waste water. The team also won a Best Part Collection award, ranked among the top five in this category. Held in Boston, United States, this year’s competition attracted a total of 7,500 contestants in 344 teams from 45 countries and regions. This is the first time that a team from Macao has participated in iGEM.


Secretary Leong: CIIE helps outreach effort of Macao businesses

The active participation of Macao enterprises in the 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE) illustrates the Shanghai event is effective in promoting their business, said today the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac.


Consumer Council released 1st supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the first-half of November on 6 November for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 14 supermarkets in Nossa Senhora de Fátima Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.


“The International Symposium of the Maritime Silk Road” gathers experts from China and abroad to foster academic research for its nomination to the World Heritage List

On occasion of the 20th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, “The International Symposium of the Maritime Silk Road” was presented by the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government and the National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) of China, with the organisation of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage and the Guangzhou Office for the World Heritage Nomination of the Maritime Silk Road, in order to facilitate the nomination of the Maritime Silk Road for inscription on the World Heritage List and to deepen the foundation for academic research on its universal value and conservation, and to enable a more complete appreciation for Macao as an important location and platform along the historic Maritime Silk Road, also revealing Macao as a place where Chinese culture prevails and other cultures flourish in harmony. This important symposium was initiated on 6 November, at 9am, at the Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre, where various experts from China and abroad gathered to foster academic research in regard to the intended nomination of the Maritime Silk Road to the World Heritage List, with the event also featuring the signing of a cooperation agreement.
