Exchange for the 20th Anniversary of the Return of Sovereignty of Macao banknotes and the Zodiac Banknotes starting today

The exchange for the 20th Anniversary of the Return of Sovereignty of Macao banknotes and for the four previously issued Zodiac Banknotes starts today and will end on 19 December 2019 (Thursday). Each registered Macao resident can bring along his/her valid ID card to the selected bank on the selected date and exchange for 10 pieces of each type of Zodiac banknotes (Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig) and 5 pieces of the 20th Anniversary of the Return of Sovereignty of Macao banknotes of each Issuing Bank, totaling the exchange for 90 pieces of the mentioned banknotes from the two Issuing Banks with exchange amount of MOP1,000.

22nd Lusofonia Festival inaugurated offering the charm of lusophone culture for three consecutive days

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and co-organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the 22nd Lusofonia Festival is held from 18 to 20 October, at the Taipa Houses, introducing to the public the lusophone culture. The Festival offers a diversified programme of activities, including music and dance performances, booths, gastronomy and games, allowing residents and tourists to experience the Portuguese customs and feel the Festival’s cheerful atmosphere.

Suncity Group 66th Macau Grand Prix – Glittering International Line-Up Announced for November Macau Grand Prix

The Suncity Group 66th Macau Grand Prix will be held from November 14-17. The programme includes six races, of which three of the four headliners are official FIA World Cups. The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee (MGPOC) held a press conference today (October 17th) at the Macao Science Center to announce the impressive line-up of international and regional drivers and riders - which includes the defending champions from all four bill-topping races - and to announce details of promotional activities ahead of and during the four-day motorsport extravaganza.


Government studying feasibility of establishing securities market in Macao

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac, today said Government work related to the potential establishment in Macao of a securities market denominated and cleared in renminbi, was supported on two major national initiatives relating to Macao.


Consumer Council released 5th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of October on 17 October for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 14 supermarkets in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.


Results of construction sector survey 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that Receipts, Gross Surplus and other principal indicators of the Construction Sector registered year-on-year decreases in 2018 owing to the successive completion of several large-scale hotels and entertainment facilities. Receipts of the sector declined by 17.2% year-on-year to MOP54.55 billion, of which Receipts from Construction Works Performed (MOP53.31 billion) dropped by 16.7%. Expenditure of the sector totalled MOP50.0 billion, down by 17.5%, with Intermediate Consumption (MOP41.0 billion) and Labour Cost (MOP9.0 billion) falling by 19.0% and 9.8% respectively. Gross Surplus of the sector, which equals receipts less expenditure, went down by 14.2% to MOP4.55 billion. Average Gross Surplus per Establishment amounted to MOP1.36 million, a decrease of 21.7%. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy slid by 11.3% to MOP13.55 billion.


Art Macao’s giant “Fruit Tree” erected at the Art Plaza of Macao Cultural Centre

The mega international art event “Art Macao” brings a series of splendid and diverse cross-platform artistic activities to the city, attracting many art aficionados and tourists from around the world. The giant “Fruit Tree” created by South Korean artist Choi Jeong-Hwa, dubbed the Father of South Korean Pop Art Installations, was erected at the Art Plaza of the Macao Cultural Centre. Legislative Assembly by-election to involve 920 representative voters

An aggregate of 920 individuals representing community interests will be eligible to take part as voters in the upcoming by-election for a Legislative Assembly seat. The news was confirmed after the application period closed on 10 October for “legal-person” voters to register their representatives for the election.
