Exhibition “Chapas Sínicas—Stories of Macao in Torre do Tombo” opens at the National Archive of Torre do Tombo in Portugal
The exhibition “Chapas Sínicas — Stories of Macao in Torre do Tombo”, jointly organized by the Archives of Macao under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the National Archive of Torre do Tombo of Portugal, was inaugurated on 8 October, at the National Archive of Torre do Tombo in Lisbon. The opening ceremony was held in a lively atmosphere and was officiated by the Director- General of the Directorate-General for Book, Archives and Libraries of Portugal, Silvestre Lacerda; and the Director of the Archives of Macao Lau Fong.

Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – September 2019
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP171.0 billion (USD21.18 billion) at the end of September 2019. The reserves increased by 0.7% from the revised value of MOP169.8 billion (USD21.02 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-September 2019 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 81.4% of pataca M2 at end-August 2019.

“Style‧Encounter Moment” Fashion Parade is held on Saturday showcasing local designers’ works at Macao Fashion Festival
Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-organized by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM), “Style‧Encounter Moment” Fashion Parade of Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making will be held on Saturday, 19 October, at 2pm, at the Macao Fashion Festival 2019 in the Florence ballroom of The Venetian Macao. Admission is free and the public is welcome to enjoy local fashion designs and understand the development of local fashion industry.

Global Tourism Economy Forum・Macao 2019 grandly commences Unveils “Tourism and Leisure: Roadmap to a Beautiful Life”(Press Release of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture)
The Global Tourism Economy Forum (“GTEF” or “the Forum”) was unveiled with an opening ceremony today (14 October). Centred on the concept of “Beautiful Life” raised by President Xi Jinping, the Forum is leading forward-thinking discussions on global tourism economy under the theme “Tourism and Leisure: Roadmap to a Beautiful Life”. The two-day Forum in Macao has lined up industry leaders and experts to share insightful perspectives in an array of sessions. The “GTEF ∙ World Tourism Investment and Financing Conference” was also launched in this edition, inspiring delegates to explore new possibilities in the tourism markets along the Belt and Road and across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Forum also deepened its collaboration with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) by bringing the finale of the “UNWTO Tourism Tech Adventure: SportsTech” to Macao for the first time, to foster reform and innovation in the tourism value chain.

UNWTO presents Secretary Tam with Letter of Appreciation highlighting work by IFT’s Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training
The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, presented today (14 October) a Letter of Appreciation to the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, for the latter’s contribution to development of human capital in tourism worldwide. The Letter made particular reference to the training programmes offered to participants from UNWTO member states by Macao Institute for Tourism Studies’ Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training, in collaboration with UNWTO.

Secretary Leong meets Portuguese officials about boosting cooperation
The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac, had – while visiting Lisbon in Portugal – meetings with Portuguese officials, to seek extension of cooperation in the fields of youth entrepreneurship, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions), e-commerce, and the training of financial professionals.

Consumer Council released 4th supermarket price survey report of the current month
The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the first-half of October on 14 October for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 7 supermarkets in Taipa and Coloane Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.
