STAMP ISSUE “GASTRONOMY AND SWEETS III – TRADITIONAL POPULAR SNACKS”
Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau issued the stamp themes “Dim Sum” and “Hawker's Food” under the stamp series of “Gastronomy and Sweets” in 1999 and 2002. The third series with the stamp theme “Gastronomy and Sweets III – Traditional Popular Snacks” will be issued on 1st March, 2020.

The DSEJ Communicates with Representatives of the Education Sector on Class Resumption

The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) and the education sector are very concerned about the class resumption work arrangements of non-tertiary education schools. Director Lou Pak Sang of the DSEJ, and other leaders and department heads of the Bureau convened a meeting with the representatives of the Chinese Educators Association of Macao and Macao Catholic Schools Association on 26th February, which was the third meeting with the representatives of local education groups in this month. At the meeting, the DSEJ stated that there was no specific schedule for class resumption yet, but will take into account the epidemic development in Macao and in neighbouring regions as the principles of deciding on the class resumption schedule. The attendees exchanged views on the details of school resumption work during the meeting.

International banking statistics – December 2019
According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector fell in the fourth quarter of 2019. At end-December 2019, the share of international assets in total banking assets decreased to 85.2% from 85.4% at end-September 2019, whereas the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities rose to 82.0% from 81.9%.

The Science and Technology Development Fund has received 74 COVID-19 research project proposals

In order to enhance Macao’s effective response to the recent outbreak of COVID-19, to strengthen the ability to prevent and control new and emerging infectious diseases, and to provide strong scientific analysis and technological support, the Science and Technology Development Fund (the FDCT) has called for research proposals related to COVID-19 between 10thto 20thof February from universities, research institutions, science and technology enterprises and scientific researchers.

Results of visitor expenditure survey for the 4th quarter of 2019
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total spending (excluding gaming expenses) of visitors in the fourth quarter of 2019 dropped by 11.8% year-on-year to MOP16.24 billion; total spending of overnight visitors (MOP12.57 billion) declined by 16.0% while that of same-day visitors (MOP3.67 billion) went up by 6.1%. For the whole year of 2019, total spending of visitors amounted to MOP64.08 billion, down by 8.0% year-on-year; total spending of overnight visitors (MOP49.96 billion) fell by 11.2% whereas that of same-day visitors (MOP14.12 billion) rose by 5.0%.

With effect from noon tomorrow (26th February), individuals who have been to South Korea are subject to 14-day medical observation in quarantine

In light of the sudden spike of COVID-19 cases in South Korea in recent days, in order to step up prevention, the MSAR Government has decided that starting from 12:00 tomorrow (26th February), individuals who have been to South Korea within 14 days prior to entering Macao must, at the discretion of the health authorities, undergo medical observation for 14 days at a designated venue in Macao, without prejudice to other epidemic prevention measures initiated by the MSAR Government or the health authorities.

Government committed to assist homecoming of Macao residents still in Hubei

The Government is considering all reasonable options in order to bring home Macao residents that are currently in Hubei Province. The Government is looking at the matter starting from the premise that any solution must be in full compliance with Hubei Province’s disease-control measures.

Special arrangement for money transfer service of Western Union in Macao Postal Savings from 26th to 28th February 2020

CTT Macao would like to inform that the distribution hour of the current-day walk-in quota for money transfer service of Western Union in Macao Postal Savings, situated in San Ma Lou (Av. Almeida Ribeiro), during 26th to 28th February 2020, will change to start at 09:00, with limited quota distributing in a “first-come-first-serve” basis each day and no advance booking. The service hour continues to be 12:00 to 17:00.
