CE: PLA Macao Garrison vital to safeguarding ‘One country, two systems’

(Macao – 1 August 2025) The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, today stated that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Macao Garrison has consistently bolstered confidence in, and safeguarding of, the successful practising of the “One country, two systems” principle with Macao characteristics, earning widespread acclaim from the Macao public and genuine respect from all sectors of society.


Outreach activities of the Fringe Festival expand creative horizons Fringe Docent Programme is added to get closer to artistic scenes

The 23rdMacao City Fringe Festival held by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will stage 13 outreach activities, including flash mob events, workshops, exhibitions, seminars, exchange sessions and discussion sessions, with a view to broadening the audience’s artistic horizons in diverse ways.


UM Portuguese Language Summer Programme concludes with showcase of participants’ learning outcomes

The Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macau (UM) held a closing ceremony for the 39th Portuguese Language Summer Programme. During the event, participants showcased what they had learned over the past three weeks through cultural performances. Certificates were also presented to those who met the course requirements.


23rd Macao City Fringe Festival Art Around Every Corner

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 23rd Macao City Fringe Festival will be held from 5 to 28 September. Aimed to take the public on a “leisurely stroll around the city”, the Fringe Festival this year will stage 18 extraordinary programmes and 13 outreach activities, transforming ordinary streets into vibrant stages and leading the audience to wander through the city’s corners, thus allowing art unfolds with every step.





Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the second quarter of 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that, after discounting the effect of inflation, the real wage index of construction workers decreased by 1.9% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, the price index of construction materials for residential buildings went down by 0.5%.
