Consumer Council conducted its second ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 10 October for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Iao Hon Market and the Border Gate area (Portas do Cerco ) in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.

Myanmar grants visa-free access to Macao SAR Passport holders
Upon negotiation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Union of Myanmar in Hong Kong, the Identification Services Bureau has been notified by the Consulate General that holders of the Macao SAR Passport can enter the Republic of the Union of Myanmar without visa. This new measure is an enhancement of the visa-on-arrival privilege granted previously by the Republic of Union of Myanmar, and is put into use on a trial basis for one year starting from 1st October 2018.

The 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta & Macao Cup International Regatta will be held from 10 to 13 January
The 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta & Macao Cup International Regatta, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and Across Four Oceans Sailing Event Management, and co-organized by the Marine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and Macau Sailing Association, will be held from 10 to 13 January 2019. A press conference was held today (9October) at the Sports Bureau headquarters to announce the details of the event.

IC and IFT co-organize a lecture about world heritage management Attendance open to the general public
In order to develop further knowledge about world heritage management issues, particularly among the students of the Institute for Tourism Studies (IF) and the general public, , the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and IFT will co-organize, on 15 October, at 6pm, a lecture about world heritage management inspired by the theme “Towards an Integrated Approach to the Management of Cultural & Natural Heritage”, thereby contributing towards a more specialized overall knowledge base. This lecture will be presented by Dr. Joseph King, who is a renowned expert of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property. The lecture will take place at the auditorium of the Forward Building, at IFT’s Taipa campus; seats will be available for the general public, and all those interested are also invited to participate. . The lecture will be in English, with simultaneous translation to Cantonese.

Results of the service sector survey 2017 (Real estate management, security, cleaning, advertising and conference & exhibition organising services)
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 230 establishments were engaging in Real Estate Management Services in 2017, an increase of 13 year-on-year. Number of persons engaged rose by 18.2% to 6,201 (60.8% of them were property caretakers/doorkeepers). Receipts of the industry amounted to MOP 1.71 billion, up by 22.5%. Expenditure increased by 29.0% to MOP 1.49 billion, of which Compensation of Employees (MOP 738 million) and Operating Expenses (MOP 521 million) rose by 22.6% and 25.1% respectively; Purchase of Goods/Services & Commission Paid (MOP 229 million) surged by 69.3%, on account of an increase in purchase of services by large establishments. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy (MOP 963 million) grew by 13.9% whereas Gross Surplus (MOP 225 million) dropped by 7.7%. Meanwhile, Gross Fixed Capital Formation totalled MOP 15.41 million, up by 17.4%.
