Inauguration of exhibition “Assemblage of Treasures – Exhibition of the Macao Museum Collection in Celebration of the 20th Anniversary”

In order to celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, organised the exhibition “Assemblage of Treasures – Exhibition of the Macao Museum Collection for Celebration of the 20th Anniversary”, which was inaugurated on 28 September, at the lobby of the Macao Museum. The ceremony was officiated by the Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Wan Sucheng; the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Kent Ieong Chi Kin; the President of the Hou Kong Seal Association, Sio Chun Iun; the member of the Cultural Heritage Committee, Lei Ip Fei; the Head of the Department of Exhibitions and Museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Lei Lai Kio; the Head of the Department of Research and Educational Resourcesof the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Wong Kin Mou; and the Director of the Macao Museum, Loi Chi Pang.


UM professor Philip Chen elected member of Academia Europaea

Prof Philip Chen, chair professor of the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), has been elected a member of Academia Europaea. Members of Academia Europaea are the most outstanding or influential individuals in the fields of the humanities and natural sciences in Europe. Most of them are academicians of science from Europe or scientists with a long collaborative relationship with Europe. Many are Nobel laureates, Fields Medal winners, and Turing Award winners.

On 28 September, the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) hosted the IFT Scholarship and Fellowship Presentation Ceremony 2018 at IFT Mong-Há Campus.


DSEC launches population statistics database

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) announced the launch of the Population Statistics Database, which aims to provide data users with easy and efficient access to population statistics of Macao.


Preliminary investigation report of the Beijing Capital Airlines incident is published

The Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) has completed the preliminary report of the Beijing Capital Airlines incident which took place in this August at Macau International Airport. The report stated the factual information about the incident including the sequence of events, the damage to the aircraft, the weather and environment data and so on. It also set out the direction for continuing investigation.
