Exhibition “The Shanghai School of Painting – Collections of the Palace Museum” opens in mid-December at the Macao Museum of Art Registrations for seminar now open
The Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, holds the exhibition “The Shanghai School of Painting – Collections of the Palace Museum” with an opening ceremony on 18 December 2018 (Tuesday), on the 4th floor of MAM. In order to enhance the public’s knowledge of the Shanghai School of Painting, Xu Tong from the Department of Paintings and Calligraphy of the Palace Museum was specially invited to present a seminar prior to the exhibition on 16 December (Sunday). Admission is free and all are welcome to register.

Additional 1,700 Macao-registered vehicles to be allowed into Hengqin
An additional 1,700 Macao-registered motor vehicles will be permitted to enter Hengqin Island in Zhuhai Prefecture, marking an aggregate quota of 2,500 vehicles so licensed under a cross-boundary scheme.

Macao Orchestra cooperates with talented violinist Tianwa Yang for the first time
The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents the concert “Salute to Richard Strauss – Tianwa Yang and the Macao Orchestra” on 19 January 2019 (Saturday), at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Tickets are now available at the Macao Ticketing Network. Under the baton of the Principal Conductor, Lu Jia, talented violinist Tianwa Yang will cooperate with the Macao Orchestra for the first time. Tianwa Yang began studying violin at the age of four and won gold prizes at various competitions in China at the age of five. At the age of eleven she was invited to perform with various philharmonic orchestras at home and abroad and was awarded the title “Star of Tomorrow” by Seiji Ozawa. She broke the world record at the age of thirteen when she became the youngest performer in the history of music to record Paganini’s 24 Caprices. In addition, Tianwa Yang was hailed by the media in the United States and Europe as “an unquestioned master of the violin” and “the most important violinist to come on the scene in many a year”. She has performed with many internationally renowned orchestras, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (United States), Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (Canada), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (United Kingdom), Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (Germany) and the China National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra (China).
