Consumer Council hotline available during Chinese New Year Holidays

As consumption by citizens and the number of inbound tourists are expected to increase during Lunar New Year, the Consumer Council held a meeting before the festival with Economic Services Bureau (DSE), Macao Government Tourist Office (DST), Transport Bureau (DSAT), Judiciary Police (PJ), Public Security Police Force (PSP), Macao Custom Service, Civic and Municipal Affairs Council (IACM), Health Bureau (SS) and Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) to discuss on the protection of consumer rights for local citizens as well as inbound tourists.


Mortgage loans statistics – December 2017

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both decreased in December 2017. With regard to the outstanding balance, RMLs and CRELs both witnessed slight monthly increases.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 12 February for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets at Lam Mau, Patane and San Kio areas in Santo António Parish.



UM chip wins ASP-DAC 2018 University LSI Design Contest Special Feature Award

A microelectronics chip and a paper titled ‘A Dual-Output SC Converter with Dynamic Power Allocation for Multi-Core Application Processors’ from the University of Macau (UM) recently received the University LSI Design Contest Special Feature Award at the 23rd Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC 2018). The design from UM proposes a new dual-output switched-capacitor power converter with dynamic power-cell allocation for reducing the chip area and increasing the power conversion efficiency for multi-core microprocessors.


Small and medium-sized enterprise credit statistics – Second half of 2017

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, in the second half of 2017, new small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) credit approved rebounded when compared with the first half year. Meanwhile, the outstanding balance of SME loans also recorded growth with the share of SME loans to major industries remained broadly stable.
