UM to host the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Interdisciplinary Doctoral Forum
To foster academic exchange and development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and to create a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on global issues, the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (IAS) of the University of Macau (UM) will hold the 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Interdisciplinary Doctoral Forum from 21 to 22 August. Themed ‘Interdisciplinary Approaches to Global Challenges: Innovation, Aspiration, Solution’, this year’s forum will bring together over 60 doctoral students, scholars, and experts from around the world to explore innovative solutions to global challenges. All are welcome to attend.

UM hosts nearly 40 camps and training courses in summer
This summer, the University of Macau (UM) hosted nearly 40 summer camps and training courses, covering fields such as smart cities, business administration, health sciences, artificial intelligence, chip design, language learning, and Macao culture. These camps and courses provided a learning and research platform for secondary and university students intending to study at UM, as well as researchers and language learners from around the world. They also deepened participants’ understanding of various fields and Macao, and broadened their horizons.

Insurance Intermediary Business Ordinance took effect on 1 August, strengthening the protection of customer rights
With the development of the insurance market and the increasing diversity of insurance products, the number of insurance intermediaries in Macao has grown significantly. To further safeguard customers’ rights, the newly revised Insurance Intermediary Business Ordinance officially took effect on 1 August. On the same day, the Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) launched the "Registry of Insurance Intermediaries" inquiry system on its website, allowing the public to access information such as intermediaries' licenses, business scope, validity periods, and appointing principals.

The “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025” (Art Macao 2025)features nearly 30 exciting exhibitions and brings together novel artworks from contemporary artists from around the globe, inviting the public to embark on an enchanting aesthetic journey that runs through the urban landscape. To cultivate children’s interest and appreciation for the art, the Cultural Affairs Bureau will launch the outreach activity “Children Tours”, inspiring children’s interest and understanding of art through interactive guided tours and workshops, stimulating their artistic imagination and creative potential.

“ZAPE Taste Jam” market will open next Friday (15 August) to boost influx of consumers
Organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in partnership with the Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Macau, a market named “ZAPE Taste Jam” will enliven the pedestrian zone along Rua de Cantão and Rua de Xangai in the Zona de Aterros do Porto Exterior (ZAPE) district from 15 to 24 August. Local businesses and performance troupes are invited to weave vibrant offerings of delicacies, culture and creativity at the market, set to exude the charm of local communities by creative use of the urban space at ZAPE. Held from afternoon into nighttime, the ten-day event welcomes visitors and residents to explore, spend in businesses and stay in hotels at the ZAPE district. The project is tailored to invigorate the nighttime economy and inject new vitality into the community economy and tourism in the vicinity of ZAPE.

IPIM Collaborates with the Industrial Association of Macau to Organise 10 Enterprises at the 35th HKTDC Food Expo for the First Time
To encourage local enterprises to "go global," promote appropriate diversification of trade and the economy, and follow up on the meeting held with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) last December, the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), in collaboration with the Industrial Association of Macau, will participate for the first time in the "35th HKTDC Food Expo", held in Hong Kong from 14 to 18 August, with a dedicated Macao Pavilion. Ten small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Macao will present nearly a hundred products under the themes of "Macao's Big Health," "Made-in-Macao" and "Macao Brand" to approximately 500,000 professional buyers and visitors. Many of these products have received the "M-Mark" quality certification, with over half being halal-certified. Additionally, some exhibitors will unveil new products on-site.

Children’s playground in Flower City Park reopens after completion of optimisation
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has completed the optimisation of the children’s playground in Flower City Park, including reorganisation of the playground facilities and installation of climbing and balance play equipment suitable for use by children aged 2 to 12, providing children and the public with a more comfortable leisure venue. In addition, the optimisation works of the public toilets in the park have also been completed, and they have reopened to the public at the same time as the children’s playground.
