Five Fund Management Entities Join the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System to Provide 26 Fund Products

The Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System (the System) has come into force on 1 January this year. Members of the public can invest and make savings through the provident fund contribution scheme so as to prepare for retirement. At present, a total of five fund management entities have taken the lead to join the System, providing a total of 26 pension funds as the investment instruments for the contributions of the non-mandatory central provident fund system. From now on, members of the public can check the related fund information on the non-mandatory central provident fund system information platform of the Social Security Fund.


Suspension of Services – S. Paulo Kiosk and Barca Kiosk

Owing to the impact of the maintenance works of the postal kiosks of S. Paulo and Barca, please be informed that the services of the mentioned kiosks will be suspended with effect from 15th January 2018 until further notice.Public can approach the following post offices for the postal services.

Consumer Council conducted its first ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 9 January for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Areia Preta, Mong Há and Avenida de Venceslau de Morais in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.


17th Macao City Fringe Festival kicks off on Friday and takes the public on a search for the city’s treasures

The 17th Macao City Fringe Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will take place from 12 to 21 January 2018, with the opening ceremony to be held on 12 January, at 3pm, at the Old Court Building. On the day of the opening ceremony, three excellent performances take to the stage, namely Niyaro: Yearning for Homeland, Jin-Tang and Always in My Heart, inviting the audience to uncover treasures of daily life. The public is advised to purchase their tickets as soon as possible as tickets for some of the programmes are limited.



Yonghua Song assumes office as UM rector

Prof Yonghua Song, a world-renowned scholar in electrical engineering, today (9 January) assumed office as the rector of the University of Macau (UM). He expressed his hope to familiarise himself with the new job as soon as possible, increase interactions with the local community, and carry out more innovations.


UM professor appointed editor of English Today by Cambridge University Press

Andrew Moody, an associate professor from the University of Macau (UM) Department of English, has been appointed by Cambridge University Press as the editor of the journal English Today for a five-year term with effect from 1 January 2018. Prof Moody will lead the international editorial team of the journal.

DSI launches official WeChat account

The Identification Services Bureau (hereinafter referred to as DSI) officially launches its official WeChat account on 8 January 2018. It will offer greater convenience to citizens in obtaining DSI’s information. Through mobile devices like smart phone, citizens can now read the latest news published by DSI anytime and anywhere easily.
