Consumer Council’s 2016 complaint cases dropped by twelve percent
Consumer Council received a total of 6,420 cases last year, down by 13.7 percent year-on-year, with a clearance rate of over 90 percent. The Consumer Arbitration Centre received 19 cases in 2016.

Tourist price index (TPI) for the 4th quarter 2016
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average Tourist Price Index (TPI) for the whole year of 2016 continued its downward trend from 2015 (-0.86%), down by 5.44% to 130.86, with siginifcant decline in the price index of Accommodation (-21.20%) and Transport & Communications (-9.82%). However, price index of Restaurant Services, Miscellaneous Goods, and Food, Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco increased by 2.27%, 2.20% and 1.91% respectively year-on-year.

Consumer Council released price survey on 11 festive foods
Consumer Council collected prices of 11 festive foods from 24 retail outlets on 12 January for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12thJune. The collected data has been uploaded to the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) and the ‘Supermarket Price Information Platform’ iPhone and Android apps. Consumers can also check the data through the Council’s official WeChat account.

Macao Orchestra offers additional performance for Japanese Drama Classic “Nodame Cantabile Music Concert”, due to public demand
The Japanese Drama Classic “Nodame Cantabile Music Concert”, presented by the Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, to be held on 11 February, has been enthusiastically sought-after by the public. Tickets for the concert were sold out after going on sale. Considering the high public demand, the Macao Orchestra offers an additional concert on 10 February, at 8pm. Tickets for this additional concert are available through the Macau Ticketing Network from 16 January. Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Rooster comes into spotlight on the third and eighth day of Lunar New Year
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will present its mega festive event in celebration of Chinese New Year together with residents and visitors, entitled the “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Rooster”, on the third day (30 January) and eighth day (4 February) of Lunar New Year. The event features fabulous float parades, mega joint performances, splendid fireworks display, float exhibition, snapshot competition and so forth. In the days ahead, MGTO will keep taking its festive events to a new level of scope and impact to attract visitors from a greater diversity of markets to Macao and encourage more local residents to participate in the events.
