Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the 1st quarter 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average daily wage of construction workers increased by 1.8% quarter-to-quarter to MOP830 in the first quarter of 2017. The average daily wage of non-resident construction workers (MOP750) rose by 4.0% quarter-to-quarter, and that of local construction workers (MOP1,045) edged up by 0.4%.

The 28thMacao Arts Festival (MAF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was inaugurated on 28 April, at 7:40pm in the lobby of the Macao Cultural Centre. Government, Leung Hio Ming; the Acting Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Cecilia, Tse Heng Sai; the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Teledifusão de Macau, S.A. (TDM), Manuel Gonçalves Pires Júnior; the Senior Vice President of Strategy & Corporate responsibility of MGM, Sarah Rogers; the Deputy General Manager of Bank of China Limited (Macau Branch), Ip Sio Kai; and the Vice President of Air Macau Company Limited, Liao Hanxi. This edition of the MAF presents 25 extraordinary shows and exhibitions as well as an outreach programme, in a total of over 100 activities, leading the audience to explore various possibilities of spaces by means of different art manifestations.


Macao to impose sale ban on live poultry, starting from May

The Government has decided to ban the import and sale of all live poultry in Macao, starting from 1 May 2017.

Consumer Council and other departments met up to prepare for Labour Day holiday

As Labour Day holiday is approaching, consumption by citizens are expected to increase, so are the number of inbound tourists. Consumer Council held a meeting earlier with Economic Services Bureau (DSE), Macao Government Tourist Office (DST), Transport Bureau (DSAT), Judiciary Police (PJ), Public Security Police Force (PSP), Macao Custom Service, Civic and Municipal Affairs Council (IACM), Health Bureau (SS), and Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) to discuss on the protection of consumer rights for local citizens as well as inbound tourists.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for March 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitors on package tours totalled 629,000, up by 11.7% year-on-year and 14.5% month-to-month. Package tour visitors from Mainland China (486,000), the Republic of Korea (39,000) and Taiwan (36,000) went up by 9.9%, 65.4% and 11.2% respectively year-on-year. In the first quarter of 2017, visitors on package tours totalled 1,711,000, up slightly by 0.6% year-on-year.
