Results of visitor expenditure survey for the 3rd Quarter of 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total spending (excluding gaming expenses) of visitors was MOP15.93 billion in the third quarter of 2017, up by 8.8% year-on-year and 15.9% quarter-to-quarter. Total spending of overnight visitors (MOP12.99 billion) and same-day visitors (MOP2.94 billion) rose by 9.0% and 8.2% respectively year-on-year.






Registration for the weekend handicraft workshops to be held in December at the “Nam Van Lake Craft Market” is open

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the “Nam Van Lake Craft Market” is held on Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 January to 31 December 2017, from 2pm to 9pm, at the Anim’Arte NAM VAN, featuring a rich variety of handicraft workshops. Online registration for the weekend handicraft workshops to be held in December is available through the Activity Registration System on IC’s website from today. The fee for each handicraft workshop is MOP50. Online registration is available until Friday, 24 November, at 5pm.



Concert “In Love with Scotland” conducted by Macao Orchestra’s Assistant Conductor Francis Kan to be held at St. Dominic’s Church this Friday

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents the concert “In Love with Scotland” on Friday, 24 November, at 8pm, at St. Dominic’s Church. Under the baton of OM’s Assistant Conductor Francis Kan, the concert features two well-known pieces by renowned composer of the Romantic period Felix Mendelssohn. Admission to the concert is free.


Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey – 30 June 2017

According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, on 30 June 2017, investment of Macao residents (including individuals, the government and other legal entities but excluding Macao’s foreign exchange reserves) in securities issued by unrelated non-residents reached MOP582.6 billion at current market value, representing a rise of 20.2% from end-2016 or 31.5% from end-June 2016. Among the various instruments of portfolio investment, equity securities (including mutual funds and investment trust units), long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities were valued at MOP210.9 billion, MOP361.0 billion and MOP10.8 billion respectively. As compared with end-2016, equity securities and long-term debt securities rose by 14.7% and 26.2% respectively, while short-term debt securities dropped by 28.0%.
