CE: Further effort to boost development of a green economy

Macao has been dedicating further effort to fostering its close collaboration with regional partners regarding environmental protection and the development of a green economy, said today the Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On.

The ‘Certified Shop’ mechanism of the Council aims to attract more local businesses that are willing to be monitored and assessed in order to help enlarge its consumer protection work and to strengthen the successful outcome of the mechanism of enhancing overall quality of local retail industries.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for February 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitors on package tours totalled 559,000 in February 2017, down by 1.5% year-on-year and up by 4.7% month-to-month. Package tour visitors from Mainland China (414,000) and Taiwan (36,000) dropped by 5.4% and 9.3% respectively year-on-year, while those from the Republic of Korea (49,000) surged by 54.4%. In the first two months of 2017, visitors on package tours totalled 1,092,000, down by 4.0% year-on-year.


Electoral Affairs Commission to set limits on noise levels in public places during campaigning period

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election plans to set limits to the levels of noise that can be produced in public places during campaigning period, in a bid to mitigate the risk of noise pollution and to protect the community from excessive noise.


“Puzzle City x Comer ─ Double Solo Exhibition by Bunny Lai and Julia Lam” opens at the Lakeside Gallery on Saturday

The “Puzzle Cityx Comer ─ Double Solo Exhibition by Bunny Lai x Julia Lam” will be inaugurated on Saturday, 1 April, at 12pm, at the Lakeside Gallery at the Anim’Arte NAM VAN, featuring a number of oil paintings and illustrations by two local young female artists. The exhibition runs until 7 May. The public is welcome to attend and support local artworks.


2017 MIECF Green Business Cooperation Day Business Executives and Overseas Experts Discuss New Markets and New Business Opportunities of Environmental Industry

On the first day of “2017 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum & Exhibition” (MIECF) (30 March) at 2:00 p.m., the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) will host the “Green Environmental Business Cooperation Day” event in the Venetian Macau - Resort – Hotel - Sicily Room. The executives of the local and overseas business associations, and experts are invited to the event to discuss the special topic on the innovations which advance the development of manufacturing and tourism, in order to bring about new ideas and opportunities for the development of the enterprises.

MIECF expanding as exchange and co-operation ‘green platform’

The 2017 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (2017MIECF) marks the 10-year milestone of MIECF. Over the past nine years, MIECF has fully delivered its functions as an international “green platform”, via which various organisations and enterprises from the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Region, the European Union (EU), the Portuguese-speaking Countries, and from countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” have established contact and promoted co-operation in the environmental sector.


April is a Contribution Month and FSS Reminds the Public to Pay Contributions on Time

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) reminds members of the public that April is a contribution month and employers are required to pay contributions of the Obligatory System in this month for their local long-term employees for the first quarter of this year. If they have a non-resident worker, they must also pay the employment fee. Besides, beneficiaries of the Arbitrary System must also pay their contributions to the FSS in April. Starting this year, the contribution amount is 90 patacas per month, of which the contribution amount of the Obligatory System is 30 patacas for the employee and 60 patacas for the employer and the contribution amount of the Arbitrary System is 90 patacas.


CE to attend Legislative Assembly meeting on 21 April

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will attend a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly on 21 April (Friday) and answer legislators’ questions on Government policy and social issues.
