New Label with Franking Impression and Publicity Slogan Impression of Postal Label Printer
Macao Post announces that the following labels with franking impressions, indication of the latest posting time, 2D barcode and publicity slogan impressions of EMS will be used at Carmo, Seac Pai Van and Mong Ha Post Offices starting from 9th October, 2014. Given that the 2D barcode record has a unique electronic signature to prevent data tampering, it will help to enhance security and administration for using Postal Label Printer. This label is applicable only to mail correspondences, small packets and printed matters at postal counters, and it is not for individual sale.

Stamp Festival Express, 2014
To celebrate the World Post Day, Communications Museum is launching a series of activities! The Museum will be open to the public on 9 October free of charge. Visitors are welcome to visit the Museum from 9:30 to 17:30 Postal/Philately Gallery will be re-exhibiting the popular "Kid's Playthings" interactive games of the Stamp Festival last year. From the "Large Stamp Projector", visitors can view stamps related to Music, which is the theme of the World Post Day this year. They can also have a close view of the "3-Dimensional Stamps" that are made of different materials and by different techniques, by selecting the philatelic items with the movable magnifying glass. In the other part of the gallery, a huge 3-dimensional "Make a Pose" is set up for visitors to take photos with their own cameras. The design has used the winning artwork of the Draw My Story of Stamps Contest last year. Participants of the "Draw My Story of Stamps Contest, 2014" are reminded to submit their work to Communications Museum before 17:30 on 17 October 2014 (Friday). The Biomedical Engineering Exchange Trip for Teacher - Singapore, organized by the Macau Society of Biomedical Engineering, sponsored by Macao Foundation, Tertiary Education Services Office, Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, IEEE-EMB Hong Kong - Macau Joint Chapter and, co-organized by Communications Museum will be launched in November. Through this trip, we hope that together with the teachers of Macao, we can learn more about the development and prospects of biomedical engineering in Singapore. Subsequently, we hope to encourage more students of Macao to select the related subjects for their further studies. All full-time primary and secondary teachers of Science subjects are welcomed to join. Teachers of Physics, Biology and Chemistry will be given the priority. Number of entries is limited. Organized by the Macao Society of Biomedical Engineering and Communications Museum, the Science and Art Activity for Primary Students is of the theme "Component Revamp". Participants will use different electronic components and simple tools to create a 3-dimensional object. This year there will be Family & Friends Group and School Group for participants of different levels to join. The activity will be held on 6 December 2014. Winners of the three best works and their supervisors will also be invited to join "A Tour at Hong Kong Museums". Electronic Device Construction Competition of Communications Museum, 2015
In order to encourage local secondary school students to employ their theoretical scientific knowledge on practical experiments, Communications Museum and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Macao will launch the Electronic Device Construction Competition in October. This year the theme is "Fighting for Every Gram". Full-time students of Macao secondary schools can compete individually or in groups. The competition is divided into two categories: Junior Secondary Group or Senior Secondary Group. The final eight teams of each category will be awarded trophies, winning certificates, book coupons and attractive prizes. All competing devices will be displayed at the Museum after the competition. Two explanatory sessions in Cantonese will be held in the Communications Museum Auditorium at 14:00 (Junior Secondary Group) and 16:00 (Senior Secondary Group), on 18 October 2014. Free postcard to celebrate “The World Post Day”
With the advance of Internet communication technology, postcard is no longer an important communication tool, instead, it is used to share happy memories or to send greetings to friends and families. To celebrate The World Post Day, Macao Post specially printed an exquisite postcard entitled "Post Your Love". The postcards will be available for free to post at Macao Post Headquarters and branches on 9 October 2014. Senders are welcome to write their blessing words and sentences to convey their heartfelt wishes and warm regards, as handwritten messages give a warm feeling to the receivers. Each time is allowed to get 1 for free per person, and the postcards are available while stock lasts.

Consumer Council reminds ‘Certified Shop’ supermarkets to monitor sources of goods
There has been news about the sale of large quantities of smuggled goods to local supermarkets to be put on shelves for consumers. For the safety and health of consumers, Consumer Council calls on the supermarket retail industry to pay attention to the sources of their goods and assure the quality of their goods are safe. The Council has already sent out letters to notify its 'Certified Shops' under the supermarkets industry that they must operate in accordance with the law of Macao SAR and pay attention to the procurement of goods. Should any 'Certified Shop' is found to be involved in any illegal acts, its entitlement to the 'Certified Shop' emblem will be suspended for up to six months, and the shop will be disqualified from the annual evaluation. According to the investigation of Macao Customs, large quantities of smuggled wine and food have been sold to almost 47 local supermarkets, including supermarket chains, to be put on shelves. Consumer Council indicates that smuggling is illegal in Macao, and the Council expresses concerns on the safety and quality of these products. To ensure the health and safety of consumers, the Council immediately notifies over 120 supermarket and grocery stores under its 'Certified Shop' mechanism and reminds them to operate according to the 'Code of Practice' for their industry and the law of Macao SAR. All involved supermarkets and grocery stores should make sure the sources of their goods are legal, and monitor the quality and hygienic condition of their goods, etc. The Council has also contacted Macao Customs to investigate whether any 'Certified Shops' are involved. The Council indicates that any 'Certified Shop' involving in any illegal acts will be penalized according to the law. In case of an administrative offense, the business' entitlement to the 'Certified Shop' emblem will be suspended for up to six months, and 20 points will be deducted from the annual evaluation. In case of a criminal offense, the business' entitlement to the 'Certified Shop' emblem will be suspended and only be qualified for reconsideration into the mechanism after three years. The Council adds that the deduction of points will affect the assessment scores and the entitlement to the emblem in the coming year. Other businesses which do not belong to the 'Certified Shops' mechanism are also reminded to pay attention to the sources of goods and whether they are legally imported or not. Consumer Council will provide all necessary support to its 'Certified Shops', including the provision of timely information on food/product safety and training programs. Together with Macao Customs, the Council held a lecture this August on the protection of consumer rights and intellectual property, supermarkets and drugstores were reminded of the importance of monitoring their procurement process and to operate according to the law. Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ Surveyed spots included over 10 supermarkets in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish
Consumer Council conducted its first 'Supermarket price survey' in October on 6 October for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Areia Preta and Avenida de Venceslau de Morais in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish. The latest 'Supermarket Price Survey' is now available on Consumer Council's website (www.consumer.gov.mo), and the 'Supermarket Price Information Platform' iPhone and Android apps. The survey is also available free of charge at the offices of Consumer Council, IACM's Iao Hon and S. Domingos Markets, bookstores and libraries. Consumers may also access the resources through WAP channels on their mobile phones. With reference to the local six parishes and the number of supermarkets in each parish, the Council has divided around 100 supermarkets into 8 areas for price collection. The Council collects prices from these supermarkets for the provision of a more comprehensive database for consumers to check price discrepancies and make price comparisons according to their desired locations. Postcards "Draw My Story of Stamps"
The contest "Draw My Story of Stamps", organized by the Museum of Communications in 2013, was designed to create drawings through a stamp or souvenir sheet of "Macau, China". To encourage new artists to participate in cultural creative arts and design activities, and to recognize the commitment of the winners of this event, the Macao Post adopted the winning entries in the contest "Draw My Story of Stamps" for the issuance of two sets of postcards. One set of 4 postcards for the winning designs of the General Category is priced at MOP28.00. Another set of 7 postcards for the winning designs of Categories Primary Student and Secondary Student is priced at MOP49.00. The postcards are available for sale on 9th October 2014 at the Macao Post Headquarters and all post offices.

Monetary and financial statistics – August 2014
According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, money supply dropped in August. As total loans increased at a faster pace than total deposits, the overall loan-to-deposit ratio of the banking sector rose from a month earlier. Money supply Currency in circulation grew 1.9% whereas demand deposits dropped 2.3%. M1 thus decreased 1.6% from one month earlier. Concurrently, quasi-monetary liabilities grew 0.2%. The sum of these two items, i.e. M2, decreased 0.1% to MOP489.1 billion. On an annual basis, M1 and M2 rose 10.6% and 16.6% respectively. The share of Pataca (MOP) in M2 stood at 24.8%, up 0.2 percentage points from a month ago or 0.1 percentage point from a year earlier. The share of Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) in M2 was 50.4%, up 0.5 percentage points month-to-month but down 2.5 percentage points year-on-year. Deposits Resident deposits decreased 0.1% from the preceding month to MOP479.1 billion. Of which, MOP deposits and HKD deposits increased at respective rates of 0.7% and 0.9% whereas other foreign currency deposits dropped 2.7%. Non-resident deposits rose 2.8% to MOP232.2 billion. Public sector deposits with the banking sector also increased 1.9% to MOP90.6 billion. As a result, total deposits with the banking sector grew 0.9% from a month earlier to MOP801.8 billion. The shares of MOP and HKD in total deposits were 18.5% and 41.5% respectively. Loans Domestic loans to the private sector increased 1.6% from a month ago to MOP322.7 billion. Among which, MOP89.7 billion was MOP-denominated and MOP203.2 billion was denominated in HKD, representing 27.8% and 62.9% of the total respectively. On the other hand, external loans rose 1.5% to MOP342.9 billion; of which, loans denominated in MOP and HKD accounted for 1.4% (MOP4.9 billion) and 23.6% (MOP80.8 billion) respectively. Loan-to-deposit ratios The loan-to-deposit ratio for the resident sector at end-August rose 0.8 percentage points from the previous month to 56.7%. The ratio for both the resident and non-resident sectors also grew by 0.5 percentage points to 83.0%.
