In each outlet, around 600 numbers were distributed to the satisfaction of the public, who praised the services supplied by the organizer and also the help of staff members in purchasing tickets. Several shows were highly sought after, revealing the tastes of the public. Sold out shows include Songs Along the Danube, by the Vienna Boys Choir, and the jazz concert Unclouded, by Norwegian Silje Nergaard. Cultural Affairs Bureau invites applications to the 2013 Shenzhen and Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Arquitecture

The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (CAB), in cooperation with the Macao Architects Association, organises the Macao Pavilion at the 2013 Shenzhen and Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (Shenzhen), and is not inviting applications for the Pavilion until August 30. Macao was, for the first time, invited to participate in this Biennale, whose theme this year is "Urban Border". Individual residents or legal persons are both invited to apply for this Project. The Biennale was first organised in Shenzhen in 2005 and an invitation to participate was extended to Hong Kong in 2007, with both cities co-organising the exhibition from this year on and turning it into a "Bi-City Biennale". It is currently the only biennale in the world dedicated to urbanism; in the four editions already held in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, more than 520 works from around the world went on display and over 110 forums were organised. Macao was for the first time invited to participate in this event. The CAB hopes this participation can successfully promote the cultural exchange between Macao and third countries, contribute to better knowledge of the national and international cultural tendencies in urbanism and architecture and attract the population's interest in architecture, urban planning, art and design. The theme "Urban Border" stems from urban areas' characteristic multiplicity of values, and is centred in the often ignored and hidden tendency for diversity, differentiation and individuality that is revealed beyond the mainstream and homogeneity during the urbanization process. The Shenzhen exhibition will be curated by Ole Bouman's team in cooperation with Li Xiangning and Jeffrey Johnson's team. The CAB will hold a clarification session, on August 10, at 3pm, at the CAB Building, located at Tap Seac Square, to introduce the Biennale's background, location and theme, among other topics. The exhibition project will be supervised by the Organising Committee of the Macao Exhibition – 2013 Shenzhen and Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, and the selection of applications will be carried out by the Jury Commission for the Macao Pavilion Exhibition Plans – 2013 Shenzhen and Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture. Interested parties who have any questions relating to this project, can send an email to pr@icm.gov.mo until August 9 (Friday). The organizer will reply all queries by email before August 16 (Friday), and all replies will be made available for consultation at the CAB's website. The application form and regulation are available for download at the CAB's website, at www.icm.gov.mo.

Guangdong and Macao exhibitors report booming sales and prepare for participation next year
On the last day of the fair, many residents grasped the last chance to shop their favourite products at lower price. Many exhibitors posted catch-lines such as "buy one get one free" and "clearance sale" to attract patrons while some of the exhibitors expressed that their sales are very satisfactory and all stocks were sold out in the morning. A Mainland exhibitor Mr. Chen who sells bedding accessories said that their sales achieved their desired results and their brand has been known by many people and the selling price here is 40% cheaper than the store's selling price, so their stocks were sold like hot cakes. He further told that they brought 40 boxes of stocks and they were almost sold out during noon time and only a few pillows were left. He said that the best gain from this event is that a Macao hotel approached him and expected that they can sign long-term co-operation agreement in the future. A local exhibitor Mrs. Yu who sells frozen food said that this is the third year she has participated in the event and the types of their products for sale are more than the previous year and their sales are also better year-on-year. She continued saying that they had to refill their stocks everyday to meet the demand and this year they sold over 20,000 frozen chickens. Moreover, a local company selling Portuguese foodstuffs told that this is the first year they participated in the event and their anticipated result has been achieved while their products also received active response. In addition, all of their stocks, including cherry wine, port wine, and olive oil, have been sold out quickly and during the event, some Mainland and Hong Kong buyers approached them for business negotiation. Thus, they planned to take part in the event next year. Another local company participating in the event for the second year said that they established their own brand several years ago and invented and produced various Macao-Portuguese canned food which claims to have no preservatives, mono-sodium glutamate and food additives. They hoped to promote Macao's cultural features via their fine food and make it one of the souvenirs in Macao. The person in charge noted that as they do not have many sales points at present, they wish to promote their brand via this event. He further noted that they received noticeable results in last year's fair and some returning patrons came to their booth to buy their canned food and sauce. Fantasy World – Chinoiserie Exhibition Extended One Week

Organised by Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Fantasy World - Chinoiserie exhibition has attracted a large number of local residents and tourists since opening in May. Taking into account the approaching summer holidays, the exhibition has extended its stay in the city until the afternoon of 25th August 2013, a week longer than the original closing date of 18th August 2013, in order to enable more people to appreciate these precious exhibits. Everybody is welcome to visit. The Fantasy World - Chinoiserie exhibition focuses on the widespread enthusiasm for 'Chinoiserie' across Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries. At that time, Europe was significantly influenced by Chinese products and culture, sparking the appearance of Chinese elements in the creative techniques and expressive forms of a wide range of art works - demonstrating that the Chinese art style was integrated into local society and had become a lifestyle fashion pursued by many individuals. The exhibition is themed around 'Chinoiserie', with some 80 representative cultural relics from the Cité de la Céramique- Sèvres et Limoges, Les Arts Décoratifs – Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Paris), Musée du Louvre -Département des Arts Graphiques, Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archéologie (Besançon) and Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A. on display. It also introduces the manner in which 'Chinoiserie' was imitated and processed until eventually becoming a fashion in Europe, allowing visitors to better understand 'Chinoiserie'. There is a large number of eye-catching cultural relics with strong Chinese characteristics, including ceramics, sketches, engravings, oil paintings and tapestries as well as four large vases, reflecting the widespread use of 'Chinoiserie' throughout Europe at that time. Through the approach of Europeans imitating Chinese art, visitors can glimpse the mysterious Oriental fantasies conjured up by the Europeans. The documentary now playing in the mini theatre explains the origins and development of 'Chinoiserie', while the lively, fun activities offered by the educational zone and interactive game zone help increase visitors' interest in the content of the exhibition, making it easier to comprehend. Macao Museum maintains its operational hours during the summer holiday, from 10:00am to 6:00pm (ticket booth closes at 5:30pm, Museum closes on Monday). The guided tour services are provided during the exhibition period with temporary exhibitions. Organisations and schools are welcome to make advance reservations. Macao ID cardholders and Macao student cardholders can visit the museum for free on Sundays.
