Verified CE Election result published in MSAR Gazette

The verified result of the sixth-term Chief Executive Election was today published in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Gazette. That was after the Court of Final Appeal verified the result and confirmed Mr Sam Hou Fai as the elected candidate.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, the 29th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (29th MIF) and the Macao Franchise Expo 2024 (2024MFE), organised by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), were concluded with great success today (19 October).


[Elevating the effectiveness of business matching] “Procurement Orientated Matching Session” facilitates over 140 business matches

To achieve more effective discussions between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large corporations, the “Procurement Orientated Matching Session” of the 29th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (29th MIF) was held on 18 October. More than 150 purchasers, exhibitors, and suppliers of large enterprises from a number of integrated tourism and leisure enterprises, supermarkets, and catering companies participated in the activity, where 140 business matches were made and 9 procurement projects were signed, covering sky dining, food and beverage ingredients, clothing design and manufacturing, fragrance system, electric system and product retail.


MGTO receives visit from PATA Macau Chapter Student Club and shares experience in events organization

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) received today (18 October) a visit from the members of the Student Club of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Macau Chapter. MGTO specially prepared an exchange workshop to provide an in-depth presentation about the scope of work of the Office and future opportunities for the students to collaborate in the development of tourism, to help train the next generation of professionals and contribute to the sustainable development of the industry.

The Macao segment of the 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Fair for Trade in Services (BAFTIS) was successfully held on 17 October, attracting nearly 150 enterprise representatives and industry professionals from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and beyond. Taking full advantage of multi-venue events, the 3rd BAFTIS was held in conjunction with the 29th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (29th MIF), where a number of substantive partnerships were forged through business matching, and participants in general found this event rewarding.

The 29th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (29th MIF) and the Macao Franchise Expo 2024 (2024MFE) have opened their doors to the public with free admission, drawing a large crowd to take photos at designated spots in the exhibition venue to sample free popular mainland tea drinks and collect other complimentary gifts available at the two events in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland. Many visitors were impressed by the immersive technology experience in the venue, describing it as both “eye-catching” and “stimulating”.


“Style · Encounter Moment” Fashion Parade drew the participation of buyers from home and abroad

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-ordinated by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM), the “Style · Encounter Moment” Fashion Parade of the Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making was held today (18 October) at the Macao Fashion Festival 2024 in Cotai Expo Hall C of The Venetian Macao, showcasing the latest works from various local fashion brands.


Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for August 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments went up by 2.6% month-on-month in August 2024; receipts of Western Restaurants rose by 2.3% whereas those of Japanese & Korean Restaurants fell by 1.1%. In addition, sales of the interviewed retailers grew by 8.5% month-on-month in August; sales of Cosmetics & Sanitary Articles Retailers, Department Stores and Watches, Clocks & Jewellery Retailers increased by 16.3%, 16.1% and 15.9% respectively, while the sales of Motor Vehicle Retailers declined by 47.7%.
