UM, CUC jointly organise short video contest for students from China’s higher education institutions

In order to stimulate the interest of university students in learning Portuguese and to develop their creative potential, the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau (UM) and the School of International Studies of the Communication University of China (CUC) jointly organised the Second Short Video Contest for Students from China’s Higher Education Institutions. The contest attracted the participation of many students from mainland China and Macao universities. Beijing Language and Culture University won the first prize, UM and CUC were both awarded second prizes, and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and two other universities received third prizes.


UM launches Master of Science in Business Analytics programme to drive data-driven development in business sector

The University of Macau (UM) will offer the Master of Science (MSc) in Business Analytics programme in the 2024/2025 academic year. The programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to make data-driven decisions in the business sector. Combining a solid foundation in business principles and cutting-edge analytics techniques, it will empower graduates to extract valuable insights from vast amounts of data to support strategic decision-making.


Mortgage loans statistics – November 2023

According to statistics released today (11 January) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) rose whereas those of commercial real estate loans (CRELs) decreased month-on-month in November 2023. With regard to the outstanding balances, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed declines on a monthly basis.


【Expand international markets】MGTO welcomes Air Macau’s launch of air route to Kuala Lumpur

Air Macau launched the air route between Macao and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today (10 January), marked by the first flight that arrived in Macao this evening. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Air Macau hosted a welcome ceremony, with the hope that the air route will increase direct flights between Macao and Southeast Asia, thus boosting the diversity of visitations, as the destination taps into international visitor markets with great efforts.


Students and faculty of HFPJC visits Tsinghua University

Students and faculty of Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College (HFPJC) of the University of Macau (UM) visited Xiuzhong College of Tsinghua University. As the first exchange activity between the two colleges since the establishment of their sister-college relationship, the trip aimed to provide a learning and exchange platform for students and faculty from the two colleges, and promote comprehensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the two colleges in the areas of residential college system, innovative practices, cultural education, and sustainable development.


2024 MGM Macao International Regatta to set sail tomorrow

The 2024 MGM Macao International Regatta, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, MGM and the Ursa Major Sailing Management, co-organized by theMarine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macau Sailing Association, and supported by the Zhuhai Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, will be held from 11 to 14 January. A total of 37 teams, consisting of approximately 300 team members from 31 countries and regions, will compete in three events, aiming for outstanding results.





UM students win two news awards

A team of fourth-year students from the Department of Communication of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) at the University of Macau (UM) won second runner-up in two English categories, Best in News Writing and Best in Art and Culture News Reporting, at the 2023 Campus News Awards organised by China Daily Hong Kong for their English publication UM Bridges 2023—Élan.
