Horta da Mitra Market to resume business on 9 January as reorganisation works are completed
Horta da Mitra Market and the surrounding hawker area have been temporarily closed in March and August 2023 respectively to carry out reorganisation works and the works were completed as scheduled at the end of last year. To arrange for tenants of the market to relocate back to the market and resume business in an orderly manner, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) held a meeting with the relevant business operators at the end of last year for coordinating the arrangements for business resumption and explaining in detail the facilities of the stalls, safe power use and other points to note after optimisation. The 13 original stall tenants of the market have recently relocated back to the market and agreed to resume business on 9 January.

UM launches Doctor of Public Health programme to nurture global public health professionals
The University of Macau (UM) will offer the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) programme in the 2024/2025 academic year. The programme, which combines traditional public health, hospital management, and medicinal administration, aims to nurture more professionals in public health and related fields to make greater contributions to the healthcare sector in Macao, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China, and global community.

Children’s puppet theatre Gluttonous visit at CCM
The Cultural Affairs Bureau presents The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a puppet theatre based on arguably the most popular children’s book of all time. The funny, little larva and his colourful friends will finally stroll around CCM’s stage in five shows scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of February 2024 (Saturday and Sunday), at the Small auditorium.

Public Library of Cultural Affairs Bureau launches 35th issue of Books and the City
The 35th issue of Books and the City, published by the Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is now available to the public. Themed “Books as a Companion, a Bright Future Awaits”, this issue reviews various programmes launched by the Public Library of IC, with the aim of building Macao into a “City of Reading”, including the “Toddler Reading Reward Programme”, “Fun Family Reading”, “Student Fun Reading Award Scheme”, “Fun Reading School Commendation Scheme”, and “Baby Book Club – the Parent-child Space of Infants and Toddlers”, in the hope of inspiring readers to have interest in reading through diverse reading programmes and offering readers a cultural feast provided by libraries.

UM Open Day to take place on 14 January in both Macao and Hengqin
The University of Macau (UM) will hold the UM Open Day 2024 on Sunday 14 January from 11:00am to 5:00pm. This year, for the first time, the event will take place in both Macao and Hengqin to enable the public from Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to visit the UM campus in Macao and the Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute (ZUMRI) in Hengqin. During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to engage in interactions and exchanges with UM faculty and staff members about admissions and programmes. They can also learn about the latest developments and achievements of UM while experiencing the academic atmosphere and campus culture of the university.

Annual Album 2023
Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will issue an exquisite “Annual Album 2023” on 10th January 2024. The Album is made with a protective cover and the design adopts the glorious maroon. The main character of 2023, the rabbit, transforms into a magician and conjures a roll of glittering and beautiful stamps.
