2nd inauguration anniversary – Macao Grand Prix Museum continues to innovate, optimize and increase the synergy of “tourism +”
Celebrating its 2nd inauguration anniversary as an expanded attraction today (1 June), the Macao Grand Prix Museum (the “Museum”), under Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)’s management, rolls out a series of special offers and optimization of facilities. MGTO Acting Director Cheng Wai Tong attended the celebration activity today to experience the brand-new Motorcycle Racing Simulator, hoping that the debut of new interactive facilities can pass on the culture of the Macau Grand Prix vibrantly and enhance the synergy of “tourism +”.

Police Circular: Beware of consumer bonus point expiry scams via SMS messages

The Judiciary Police (PJ) has again received reports of smishing through false consumer bonus point expiry notifications. A member of the public recently received a text message from an unknown sender, claiming that the bonus points in his account on a consumer platform would soon expire. He should click the embedded link in the text message to redeem rewards. Upon doing so, the victim reached a phishing website where he was required to enter his personal information and credit card details. To redeem rewards, the victim had to enter a one-time verification code to complete a credit card transaction. The following day, the victim discovered someone had linked his credit card to a mobile payment app and had conducted multiple large-sum transactions.

MUR helps 3rd group of Iao Hon Estate property owners set up management committees
The legal framework for urban renewal, which takes effect on 1 June, will help push forward Iao Hon Estate old neighbourhood renewal project. Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) has been continuously helping Iao Hon Estate property owners participate in the project. Recently, MUR has helped property owners of Iao Hon Estate’s Hong Tai House organise condominium owners’ general assembly meetings and set up management committees (also known as property owners’ associations), becoming the third batch of buildings at Iao Hon Estate renewal project that MUR has assisted in the set-up of management committees.

Transport and communications statistics for April 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 249,131 as at end-April 2023, up by 0.9% year-on-year; light automobiles (114,023) and heavy motorcycles (108,314) rose by 0.9% and 2.1% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in April went up by 10.3% year-on-year to 933 (209 of them were electric); besides, new registration of light automobiles rose by 17.1% to 376 (57 of them were electric), whereas that of heavy motorcycles dropped by 6.7% to 457 (78 of them were electric). From January to April 2023, new registration of motor vehicles grew by 2.2% year-on-year to 3,929. Number of traffic accidents in April increased by 16.3% year-on-year to 1,072, with 2 persons killed and 423 persons injured. In the first four months of 2023, there were 4,185 traffic accidents, which resulted in 5 deaths and 1,439 injuries.

The 14th IIICF Kicks Off on 1 June Full-scale Upgrade on the Forum and Exhibition
Co-organised by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the 14th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) will be held from 1 to 2 June at the Venetian Macao Cotai Expo. The Forum is expected to draw more than 3,000 guests this year, more than doubling the number of attendees from the previous year, including ministerial-level officials, senior executives of financial institutions, international contractors included in the ENR’s Top 250 International Contractors, international organisations, international business associations, and supply chain enterprises. In addition, the exhibition of the Forum is relocated to the Exhibition Hall for the first time, with 90% of booths being specially customised. Activities such as brand promotion, enterprise roadshows and business meetings will be held throughout the Forum to create a new dimension for win-win cooperation in infrastructure construction.

External merchandise trade statistics for April 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total merchandise export amounted to MOP858 million in April 2023, down by 28.1% year-on-year. Value of re-exports (MOP731 million) dropped by 24.0%, of which re-exports of Diamond & diamond jewellery and Watches declined by 51.6% and 45.9% respectively, while those of Articles for casino and Machines, apparatus & parts surged by 146.1% and 29.9% respectively. Value of domestic exports (MOP126 million) shrank by 45.3%, with domestic exports of Garments and Pharmaceutical products & organic chemicals falling by 74.8% and 58.7% respectively. Meanwhile, total merchandise import went down by 11.3% year-on-year to MOP11.66 billion; imports of Mobile phones and Beauty, cosmetic & skincare products reduced by 74.2% and 54.4% respectively, whereas imports of Articles for casino and Gold jewellery showed respective growth of 178.6% and 64.1%. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP10.81 billion in April.
