DSEDJ informs school staff and students that they should cooperate with the latest epidemic prevention arrangements

In view of the latest COVID-19 epidemic situation in the neighbouring areas, after referring to the requirements of the Health Bureau and guidelines of the government department, the DSEDJ has informed teaching staff and students of tertiary and non-tertiary education that they should strictly comply with and implement the following measures from now until 31st October 2022. However, it is not regarded as a condition for their admission to campus.

October is a Contribution Month, “Macao One Account” is Added as a Payment Option for Arbitrary System Contributions

October is a contribution month of the Social Security System. In this month, employers are required to pay obligatory system contributions for their local long-term employees for the third quarter of 2022. If a non-resident worker is hired, the employer is required to pay the employment fee for the non-resident worker as well. Arbitrary system beneficiaries may also pay their contributions in October. The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) has added an electronic service on the “Macao One Account” for payment of arbitrary system contributions, allowing members of the public to make their payments regardless of where they are.

Tourism fared well over the past National Day Holiday
The National Day Holiday (1 – 7 October 2022) has drawn to an end in Mainland China. Preliminary statistics revealed an average daily volume of 26,000 visitor arrivals in Macao over the seven-day holiday while the average occupancy rate of local hotels reached 66.7%, both marking an increase of 30% compared with the corresponding figures in September. The visitor figures exceeded the expectation. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is vigorously working out arrangements for implementation of preferential measures for Macao, while getting prepared to welcome tour groups and visitors with electronic travel permit, joining hands with the travel trade to spur tourism and economic revival.

Airport conducts fuel farm exercise
Macau International Airport carried out the “Fire in the Fuel Farm Exercise 2022” in today’s afternoon to simulate the fire incident in the fuel farm tank. All participating entities cooperated closely with each other in accordance with the airport emergency plan to resolve the crisis. The exercise was deemed a success.

Residential property price index for June – August 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for June - August 2022 decreased by 1.4% over the previous period (May - July 2022) to 254.8. The indices for the Macao Peninsula (255.1) and Taipa & Coloane (253.9) dropped by 1.6% and 0.2% respectively.
