43% of Employers Have Not Paid Contributions; FSS Calls on Prompt Use of “Business & Associations Platform” and “Macao One Account” for Their Payments

As of 20 January, about 18,000 employers have yet to pay the obligatory system contributions for their employees under the Social Security System for the fourth quarter of 2024, representing about 43% of the total employers required to pay contributions. The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) calls on employers and residents to utilise the “Business & Associations Platform” or the “Macao One Account” to make payments as soon as possible, especially with the approaching long Lunar New Year holiday, to avoid overdue payments and long queues.

IAM to set up temporary ornamental plant inspection station at Border Gate Port from 26 January
As Chinese New Year approaches, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will set up a temporary inspection station for ornamental plants at the visitor entry channel at Border Gate Port for a consecutive three days from 26 to 28 January (the 27th to 29th day of the 12th lunar month) to provide convenience for the public to bring back to Macao the ornamental plants they purchased in the Mainland for self-use during the Chinese New Year period. The plant inspection service is free of charge. IAM reminds the public that they should not bring endangered wild plants into Macao without permission.

IAM organises multiple traditional festive activities for celebration of Chinese New Year
As the Chinese New Year is approaching, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will organise multiple traditional festive activities in various locations in Macao successively, including demonstration of calligraphy by famous calligraphers, giveaway of fai chun, activities of Chinese New Year Lucky Walk to get close to nature, setting up of the Chinese New Year Market, firecrackers areas and stalls selling incense and pinwheels, etc., to celebrate the Chinese New Year with members of the public and tourists. At the same time, IAM calls on participants of the activities to maintain personal and environmental hygiene at all times, pay attention to the crowds on site, and follow the instructions of on-site staff to observe order.

“Hawker Management Regime” to enter into force on 1 March and IAM holds explanatory sessions to assist hawkers in law-abiding operation
Law no. 22/2024 “Hawker Management Regime” will officially enter into force on 1 March 2025. With the law enforcement experience of the “Public Market Management Regime” that entered into force in 2022, and in combination with the actual operation conditions of the hawker industry, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out a series of promotion work, including holding over 10 explanatory sessions for hawker license holders, to promote the law-abiding operation of hawkers and elevate the service quality, with the aim of boosting the sustainable development of the industry.

IAM introduces “Hawker Management Regime” to consultative organisations and industry associations
The “Hawker Management Regime” will officially enter into force on 1 March 2025. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has commenced the promotion work of the new law. Three explanatory sessions on the law were held previously to introduce the content of the law and the transitional arrangements to the Consultative Committee on Municipal Affairs, the Community Service Consultative Committees of three districts and the representatives of the industry associations.
