“Hawker Management Regime” to enter into force on 1 March and IAM holds explanatory sessions to assist hawkers in law-abiding operation
Law no. 22/2024 “Hawker Management Regime” will officially enter into force on 1 March 2025. With the law enforcement experience of the “Public Market Management Regime” that entered into force in 2022, and in combination with the actual operation conditions of the hawker industry, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out a series of promotion work, including holding over 10 explanatory sessions for hawker license holders, to promote the law-abiding operation of hawkers and elevate the service quality, with the aim of boosting the sustainable development of the industry.

IAM introduces “Hawker Management Regime” to consultative organisations and industry associations
The “Hawker Management Regime” will officially enter into force on 1 March 2025. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has commenced the promotion work of the new law. Three explanatory sessions on the law were held previously to introduce the content of the law and the transitional arrangements to the Consultative Committee on Municipal Affairs, the Community Service Consultative Committees of three districts and the representatives of the industry associations.

Government-Managed Sub-Accounts of the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund to be Distributed with Income for 2024, with an Annual Interest Rate of about 4.43%
The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) announced that the interest income for government-managed sub-accounts under the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System for 2024 has been credited, with an annual interest rate of 4.4337%. Residents can check their sub-account balances using the “Macao One Account” mobile app or online platform, the “My Social Security” page on the FSS’s website, or the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System Information Platform. Additionally, balances can be checked via self-service machines.

UTM launches master's degree programmes in cultural-related areas, and luxury hospitality
To promote appropriate economic diversification of the Macao SAR, and to cooperate with the “Policy Framework for the Development of the Cultural Industry of Macao”, the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) plans to launch three cultural-related and one luxury hospitality and health service management master’s degree programmes in the new academic year of 2025/2026. The new programmes will be in effect after being published in MSAR Gazette.

Awards Ceremony for the Film and Television Talent Training Programme in recognition of outstanding participants
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and Wynn Macau, the “Award Ceremony for the Film and Television Talent Training Programme” was successfully held on 10 January 2025, at the Grand Ballroom, Wynn Macau, with the presence of several guests and instructors to witness the achievements of the participants in the “Scripts in Focus – Film Scriptwriting Advanced Programme” and the “Film Arts Training Programme”. The President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Leong Wai Man, and the Vice President of Special Events of Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace, Yolanda Lao, were invited to present the awards. The ceremony was also attended by the Assistant Commissioner for Cultural and Creative Industries of the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, Gary Mak; the Member of the Administrative Committee of the Cultural Development Fund of the Macao SAR, Chan Ka Io; the Member of the Cultural Development Consultative Committee of the Macao SAR, Choi Ian Sin; and several representatives from Hong Kong and Macao film and television industry.
