Updated Arrangements for the 40th Macao Young Musicians Competition
The 40th Macao Young Musicians Competition organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) was postponed due to the epidemic. In order to allow sufficient time for participants to prepare for the competition, the competition format will be adjusted to allow participants to record their own performance and submit the video for competition from September 28 to October 12 at 4pm. For detailed arrangements, please refer to the ‘Notes for Updates on the Competition Format’ (the Notes) released on the competition website (www.icm.gov.mo/CJMM).

According to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, the new COVID-19 positive case reported on today’s morning (10 August) is a male, 73 years old, Macao resident, and a crew member of Hong Kong-Macao cargo ship.

MPU Has Published Conference Proceedings of “Education Innovation and Teaching Quality Assurance in the Post-Pandemic Era”
Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has published the “Proceedings of the Thirteenth Higher Education International Conference on Education Innovation and Teaching Quality Assurance in the Post-Pandemic Era”. The proceedings contains selected papers from the online conference of the same name co-organised by MPU and Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) in November 2021. The conference explored topics such as innovation in thinking and methods of higher education in the post-pandemic era, quality assurance in teaching and learning, and the application of information technology in the context of the online education trend, and positive comments were received from the participants. The publication of the proceedings provides examples of measures and case studies for education innovation and high-quality higher education development in the post-pandemic era.

Demographic statistics for the 2nd quarter of 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the total population as at end-June 2022 decreased by 4,400 quarter-to-quarter to 677,300, mainly attributable to a drop in the number of non-resident workers living in Macao. Women outnumbered men, with the female population (358,800) accounting for 53.0% of the total.

Two NATs in three days for key areas in the vicinity from the cargo terminal at Inner Harbour to Praça de Ponte e Horta, starting today (10 August)

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announces that one additional imported case of COVID-19, confirmed by nucleic acid test, was reported today (10 August). As there is a certain risk of community transmission from crew members of Hong Kong-Macao vessels, and the possibility of potential infection among individuals in the vicinity of the Inner Harbour cargo terminal cannot be ruled out, in order to further assess the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the local community, a Key Area NAT drive will be launched for individuals who live or work in the vicinity of the residing place and other key areas frequently visited by the positive case.

Excavation and lateral support works begin for construction of temporary and home-swap housing units

Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) is pushing forward the temporary and home-swap housing project on Lot P in Areia Preta. The construction of the new pile foundation is progressing well, pile foundation works have been completed in some areas, where excavation and lateral support (ELS) works have started. Construction is being carried out in strict compliance with the epidemic prevention guidelines.
