UM professor Kevin Thompson elected international honorary member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Prof Kevin Thompson, master of Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau (UM), has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences as a new international honorary member in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of performing arts. With his election, he joins the company of the academy’s notable members – from its founders John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and George Washington, to Ralph Waldo Emerson, Maria Mitchell, and Alexander Graham Bell.

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (hereinafter referred to as the “Centre”) announces that in response to the epidemic situation in the neighbouring areas, and after reaching an agreement on the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism between Zhuhai and Macao, the Health Bureau determines, in accordance with Article 10 of Law No. 2/2004 (Law on the Prevention, Control and Treatment of Infectious Diseases), that with effect from 00:00 on 2 June, individuals entering Macao from Guangdong Province via the Zhuhai-Macao checkpoints or by sea must hold a proof of negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test within 7 days after the date of sampling. Non-Macao residents who fail to present such proof would be denied entry, whereas Macao residents will be required to undergo nucleic acid testing at once.

Tourism Development Committee convenes the first Plenary Meeting of 2022 Innovative projects widen visitor source and stimulate economy
The Tourism Development Committee (CDT, on its Portuguese acronym) convened the first Plenary Meeting of 2022 today (31 May), presided over by Secretary for Economy and Finance and Committee Chairperson, Lei Wai Nong. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) unveiled its work plan for the second half of 2022 and listened to CDT members’ opinions on Macao’s tourism development and the scheme for tourism economic recovery.

IFTM students research the potential of NFT in tourism industry development
Dr. Fernando Lourenço led IFTM students from the Tourism Retail and Marketing Management programme to engage in an industrial project to support a local non-profit association called Sustaincia to explore opportunities of using the NFT (non-fungible token) technology to develop various industries of Macao, including the cultural and creative industry.
