DSEC and DSEDJ Co-organise Teacher Training on Moral and Civic Education
The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has been dedicated to promoting official statistics literacy to enhance the understanding and use of official statistics by the public. In line with the development of moral and civic education in Macao, DSEC has been providing teaching materials about official statistics to enrich the Moral and Civic Education online teaching resources for secondary and primary schools. In order to help teachers better understand the teaching materials on official statistics, DSEC in cooperation with the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) held two sessions of Moral and Civic Education teacher training for secondary and primary teachers on 26 and 27 May to familiarize participants with statistical knowledge. A total of about 100 teachers from over 40 local secondary and primary schools attended the training class.

Transport and communications statistics for April 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 246,854 as at end-April 2022, up by 1.0% year-on-year; light automobiles (113,015) and heavy motorcycles (106,121) increased by 1.2% and 2.6% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in April dropped by 12.9% year-on-year to 846 (160 of them were electric vehicles), with that of light automobiles falling by 30.4% to 321 (86 of them were electric). In the first four months of 2022, new registration of motor vehicles went down by 14.1% year-on-year to 3,844. Number of traffic accidents in April decreased by 9.8% year-on-year to 922, with 3 persons killed and 362 persons injured. From January to April 2022, there were 3,909 traffic accidents, which resulted in 4 deaths and 1,363 injuries.

UM students showcase creativity through graduation works of science and technology
The University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) recently held the Dean’s Final Year Project List Presentation Ceremony and Project Exhibition 2022, where 25 projects of this year’s FST graduates were exhibited. The event attracted many industry practitioners, management team members of enterprises, government officials, professors, and students. The exhibition aimed to create an exchange platform between the academia and the industry, so as to promote industry-academia collaboration and the commercialisation of research results.

Entry submission deadline extended to end of June for Drone Gala Photography Contest and Formation Design Contest
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held the Light up Macao Drone Gala 2022 in early May alongside an array of fringe activities. The deadline for entry submission, originally on 31 May, is now extended to 30 June for the “Macao for All Seasons” Photography Contest and “Drone Sky Art” Formation Design Contest. Residents and visitors are much welcome to submit entries for the above contests.
