2022 Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Tiger enjoys popularity in northern district

The “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Tiger” (the “Parade”) was held this evening (12 February). 14 stunning floats spread auspicious blessings in the northern district and carried on the festive atmosphere of Chinese New Year. Residents and visitors were drawn into the community for celebration of the Spring Festival, stimulating consumption and community economy.

Small and medium-sized enterprise credit statistics – Second half of 2021

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, newly approved small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) credit registered annual growth in the second half of 2021. In the meantime, the outstanding balance of SME loans rose year-on-year while the share of SME loans to major industries remained stable.



Public- and private-sector organisations reminded to adhere to anti-COVID-19 guideline post holiday season

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre called on public services and the private-sector organisations to keep on paying close attention to a guideline related to management of COVID-19 risk, particularly in the aftermath of the Lunar New Year holidays. This was in view of a new wave of infection occurring on the mainland and in Hong Kong.


Mortgage loans statistics – December 2021

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both decreased in December 2021. With regard to the outstanding balances, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed increases.


2022 Sands China Macao International 10K to be held in March

The 2022 Sands China Macao International 10K, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, will be held on 20 March. Two race categories will be held, namely 10K and Fun Run (approximately 5km), with a total of 10,000 places available. Registration starts from 12 February for the 10K race and from 13 February for the Fun Run. A press conference was held today (9 February) by the Organizing Committee to announce the title sponsor, as well as introducing the race details and registration arrangements.


UM professor Tam Kam Weng elected IEEE International STEM Ambassador

Professor Tam Kam Weng in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), University of Macau (UM), has been elected an International STEM Ambassador of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest organisation in electrical and electronic technology. Prof Tam is the only scholar from Macao to have received this honour this year. In this position, he will assist IEEE in researching and formulating policies for international STEM education as well as hosting STEM training activities and competitions.


2022 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition to be Held in Late March

The “2022 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2022MIECF) will be held from 31 March to 2 April 2022 under the theme of “Commitment to Green Development, Moving Towards the Dual Carbon Goals”. In light of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and the goals of “carbon emissions peak” and “carbon neutrality”, the 2022MIECF’s exhibitions and forums will focus on topics such as carbon neutrality, green mobility, and technological innovation with the integration of online and offline elements to assist experts, scholars and traders from all over the world in obtaining forward-looking information on environmental protection, with a view of creating green business opportunities.


Residential property price Index for October – December 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for October - December 2021 increased by 0.3% over the previous period (September - November 2021) to 267.6. The indices for the Macao Peninsula (267.2) and Taipa & Coloane (269.4) rose by 0.3% and 0.5% respectively.
