Creative City Pavilion of “Art Macao” explores the beauty of food and literature through exhibitions about Macao and Nanjing
Since the opening in July, “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021” is committed to creating an immersive cultural atmosphere for the entire city as a gallery and an art garden. The “Creative City Pavilion”, featured in “Art Macao” for the first time this year, brings together four UNESCO Creative Cities, including Macao, the City of Gastronomy; Nanjing, the City of Literature; Wuhan, the City of Design; and Linz, the City of Media Arts, connecting the world with creativity. Macao receives four awards at PATA Gold Awards 2021 ceremony held today (Sep 8)
Macao was awarded with three Gold Awards and one Grand Award at the PATA Gold Awards 2021, organized by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) representative office in the United States was bestowed with a PATA Grand Award, while three Macao tourism operators received one PATA Gold Award each, for initiatives in different areas of marketing, sustainability and social responsibility. Ahead of the awards ceremony, PATA brought together travel trade from around the world to attend PATA Travel Mart 2021.

Residential property price index for May – July 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for May - July 2021 held steady compared to the previous period (April - June 2021) to 269.0. The index for the Macao Peninsula (270.2) grew by 0.1% while that for Taipa & Coloane (263.9) dropped by 0.8%.

UM appoints Dr Xu Jian as vice rector
Following a global recruitment process and a rigorous selection process, the University of Macau (UM) has appointed Dr Claudia Xu Jian as its new vice rector (administration), effective from 13 September 2021. Dr Xu has over 25 years of experience in administration, strategic planning, and innovation management, and has established close partnerships with the academia and industry. Prior to joining UM, Dr Xu was the chief commercial officer of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.

UM holds seminar on development of Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin
The Centre for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Studies under the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Social Sciences today (7 September) held a seminar on the Master Plan of the Development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Participants discussed the Master Plan from different perspectives, sharing their interpretations of the document and proposing suggestions for the development of the cooperation zone.

Measures relating to education and youth work in the academic year 2021/2022

According to the statistics of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), there are 10 higher education institutions in Macao in the academic year 2021/2022. 77 schools with 120 school units provide formal and recurrent education, among the 112 school units of formal education, 107 belong to free education school system, with a coverage rate of 95.5% and the number of beneficiaries is about 75,000 students. The DSEDJ will follow the policy guidelines of the SAR government as well as the "Medium- and Long-term Development Plan for Tertiary Education in Macao (2021-2030)", "Medium- and Long-term Plan for Non-tertiary Education (2021-2030)", "Macao Youth Policy (2021-2030)" to carry out various tasks to promote the development of tertiary education, non-tertiary education and youth work in Macao, thus cultivating more pools of outstanding talent for Macao.
