Entry clearance procedure for Macao residents who lost their document outside of Macao


How to apply

Application procedures and necessary documents: 

  1. A completed application letter for identity verification;
  2. Proof of report of loss issued by competent authorities of region at which document is lost;
  3. Information helpful for verification of interested person’s identity.

Time needed (excluding the time of waiting in a queue and postage time for documents sent by mail)

  • identity verification by fingerprint system – 20 minutes <in our performance pledges>
  • identity verification by means other than fingerprint system – 25 minutes <in our performance pledges>

(From the moment when the service unit received and confirmed that all the required documents had been correctly prepared)


Remarks / Points to note

  1. Immigration officers conduct a preliminary examination of any Macao resident who fails to present an identity card,  “My border crossing” QR code or travel document upon entry or return to Macao because his/her identification document is lost or stolen outside Macao. Immigration officers also compose an application letter for verification of identity and capture fingerprints for the resident, whose entry will be permitted after the Border Control Department verifies his/her identity through the database shared by the Identification Bureau.
  2. Macao resident who use the identity verification by fingerprint system should have successfully registered for the Automated Passenger Clearance System.
