‘The Jolda Dance Theatre is a new trend, a movement, always searching, always on a journey.’ – Silkway TV

Blown by the winds from Central Asia’s steppes, Jolda, a Kazakh company, lands on our stage with two gems of a dance theatre repertoire that has been captivating audiences both at home and abroad.

This meditative double bill opens with Tamyr, a Kazakh word for ‘roots’, unveiling a compelling blend of contemporary dance and live choral singing, exploring the intertwining of traditions and spiritual expression. With elements inspired by rituals and prayers like the Bata – a blessing passed on by elders – this performance guides us through introspection in a changing world, encouraging reflection on shared humanity and identity.

The second piece, Timeless, delves into themes that transcend time, addressing essential human questions that resonate through generations: how do we connect to our heritage? What narratives shape who we are? Evoking collective memory, Timeless delves into truths and stories that exceed history.

Founded in 2020, Jolda Dance Theatre stands as a vibrant force in the performing arts scene, fostering original performances and creative exchange. Last year, the company has been invited to join France’s internationally renowned Off Festival in Avignon, and more recently they have performed in Germany. Now they join us for an unforgettable experience that promises to linger long after the stage goes dark!
