This Cantonese opera film is based on The Legend of the White Snake, one of China’s four great folk legends. It tells the love story of Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian, whose relationship transcends the divide between the human and supernatural worlds.
Produced in 4K, the film moves beyond the confines of the traditional stage, merging Cantonese opera’s distinctive singing and stylised movements with cinematic storytelling.
