Registration fee refund and souvenir collection arrangements for the 2022 Sands China Macao International 10K

The 2022 Sands China Macao International 10K, organized by the Sports Bureau and the General Association of Athletics of Macau and title-sponsored by Sands China Ltd., has been cancelled due to the recent epidemic developments in nearby regions and in compliance with the epidemic prevention and control policies of the Macao SAR Government. The Organizing Committee hereby announces the arrangements for registration fee refund.


Opening of the exhibition “Contemporary Ink Art in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao from 2000 to 2022” Presenting the evolution of contemporary ink art in the Greater Bay Area

The exhibition “Wild Imagination: Contemporary Ink Art in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao from 2000 to 2022”, jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and coordinated by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the Guangdong Museum of Art, was inaugurated on 14 April at the MAM. The opening ceremony was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR Government, Leong Wai Man; the Head of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Bai Bing; the President of the Macau Artist Society, Lok Hei; the President of the Macau Contemporary Ink Painting Association, Chang Kuok Meng; the Acting Director of School of Arts of the Macao Polytechnic University, Lai Ming Hoi, Victor; the representative of participating artists Huang Guanghui , and Dr. Leong Lampo. The exhibition is integrated in the 32nd Macao Arts Festival.


Tap Siac Craft Market kicks off next Thursday

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Tap Siac Craft Market will be held at Tap Siac Square from 21 to 24 April, and from 28 April to 1 May. The opening ceremony will be held at 6pm next Thursday (21 April), with the band “EXCUSE ME” as a guest band. All are welcome to participate and enjoy the cultural and creative feast.


CCM’s Local View Power Urban Stories on the Big Screen

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents Local View Power’s 14th edition, running from 5 to 8 May (Thursday to Sunday) at the Small Auditorium. The homemade cinematic platform is back with a mashup of works directed by both new and established filmmakers, premiering a scope of fresh narratives to be screened in six sessions.


MSAR Government response to U.S. report on human rights mentioning Macao

Regarding media enquiries about content relating to Macao carried in the “2021 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices”, lately issued by the Department of State of the United States, the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government states the following:


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – March 2022

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP215.4 billion (USD26.72 billion) at the end of March 2022. The reserves increased by 0.8% from the revised value of MOP213.7 billion (USD26.56 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-March 2022 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 87.0% of pataca M2 at end-February 2022.


ID launches online on-the-spot swimming ticketing service

With effect from 1 May, online ticketing service for on-the-spot swimming ticket will be available at the official website and mobile application of Sports Bureau (ID), allowing residents to purchase on-the-spot swimming ticket online. Swimmers can also choose to purchase on-the-spot ticket in the swimming pool or pre-purchase swimming ticket two days in advance through current online booking system. Instant information of on-the-spot swimming ticket is shared on ID’s website, mobile APP and information board at all swimming pools under ID’s administration.


Macao's Works to be Exhibited in the International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia in Late April Allegory of Dreams Explores Macao's Urban Memory

Organised by the Macao Museum of Art, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, and co-organised by the Venice-based PDG Arte Communications as the Collateral Event from Macao, China at the 59th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, the exhibition ‘YiiMa’ Art Group: Allegory of Dreams will be inaugurated on 22 April 2022 in Venice, Italy. Curated by internationally renowned curator João Miguel Barros, the exhibition showcases 11 pieces (sets) of the latest works by artists Ung Vai Meng and Chan Hin Io from ‘YiiMa’ Art Group, which, in response to the title and theme of this year’s Biennale “The Milk of Dreams”, show a unique perspective that merges land and sky and offers a reinterpretation of the richness and density of some hidden corners of Macao and memories of the city that are fading away like dreams through sculpture, photography, video documentation and performance art.


IAM finds no abnormalities in re-tests on cold-chain aquatic products imported from Myanmar and Thailand

The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China announced on April 12 that samples of the packaging of frozen aquatic products imported from aquatic product manufacturers in Myanmar and Thailand with registration numbers YGN/090/MMH/DOF and 1180 respectively tested positive in novel coronavirus nucleic acid tests. In view of this, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has immediately launched the contingency plan. Measures such as source tracing, investigation and re-tests of the products of the involved manufacturers have been adopted. Local businesses have been requested to immediately seal the products sourced from the involved manufacturers, and samples have been collected for re-tests. No abnormalities have been found. Meanwhile, IAM has immediately suspended the import applications of the products of the involved manufacturers.


Applications for the 40th Macao Young Musicians Competition open in May

The Macao Young Musicians Competition, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), aims to actively promote the development of classical music in Macao, encourage young local musicians to explore their musical potential, and provide them with valuable stage experience and learning opportunities. The 40th Macao Young Musicians Competition, dedicated to Chinese and Western music, will be held in July and August this year. Applications will be open from 5 to 11 May. Macao residents born in or after 2001 (for instrumental categories) and 1997 (for vocal categories) are welcome to register online at www.icm.gov.mo/cjmm.
