Macao Polytechnic Institute Students Inherit the Chinese Traditional Culture

In order to promote the Chinese traditional culture, and encourage students to develop diverse interests, the Student Affairs Office of the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) has been organising activities to enhance students’ Chinese traditional culture experience, such as experiencing the Chinese Lion Dance and Chinese Tea Art. These activities, one being dynamic and one being quiet, have enabled students to understand the long history of Chinese culture.


Visitor arrivals for May 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals to Macao totalled 866,063 in May 2021, an increase of 9.0% month-to-month and an upsurge of 5,268.3% year-on-year. Overnight visitors and same-day visitors added up to 473,808 and 392,255 respectively. The average length of stay of visitors shortened by 3.7 days year-on-year to 1.6 days, with that of overnight visitors (2.9 days) and same-day visitors (0.1 day) dropping by 11.8 days and 0.1 day respectively.



Macao confirms 53rd COVID-19 case, involving imported infection

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre confirmed on 17 June a new imported case of COVID-19, taking to 53 the tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Macao since the epidemic alert began in 2020.

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election has confirmed so far a total of 21 applications – 16 for the direct election process, and five under the indirect election – for establishment of nomination committees for the Legislative Assembly Election.


“Macao Week in Shanghai” held successfully Attracting visitors with “tourism +” glamour

The promotional event “Macao Week in Shanghai” was held successfully, in tandem with the offline and online promotions to raise Macao’s profile as a healthy, safe and quality destination. The “Macao Week in Shanghai” roadshow attracted around 300,000 spectators on site while related live streams conducted by KOLs engaged over 44.36 million counts of live view and playback in total. The hashtag “#Macao Week in Shanghai#” received over 40 million pageviews on Weibo.

Committee for the Development of Conventions and Exhibitions Holds Its 1st Plenary Ordinary Meeting of 2021

The Committee for the Development of Conventions and Exhibitions (CDCE) held the “1st Plenary Ordinary Meeting 2021” at the Multi-functional Conference Hall of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) on 15 June. During the meeting, in addition to introducing the preparation for and follow-up of large MICE events to be organised or co-organised by IPIM this year, IPIM also discussed with the committee members the co-operation between MICE and other industries, as well as MICE-related training programmes. IPIM also listened to opinions from the members regarding the development of the local MICE industry, hoping to promote economic recovery with the industry together.


The Art Exhibition of MPI Seniors Academy Teachers and Students Has Fruitful Results

Organized by the Student Union of MPI Seniors Academy, and co-organized by MPI Seniors Academy (ACS), the Opening of 2020/2021 Art Exhibition of MPI Seniors Academy Teachers and Students was held on 9 June 2021 at Lam Kan Exhibition Gallery of MPI. Many guests were invited to officiate, and the scene was lively.
