Wealth Partaking Scheme 2021

As indicated in the “2021 Policy Address” that welfare and livelihood expenditures would not be affected by the MSAR Government’s internal financial austerity measures and the existing basic beneficial measures for the public would be continuously implemented, including Wealth Partaking Scheme. In this regard, the “Wealth Partaking Scheme 2021” has been announced through the Administrative Regulation No.9/2021, of which local permanent residents are entitled to receiving 10,000 patacas and non-permanent residents 6,000 patacas. Due to the impacts of coronavirus epidemic on the economy and livelihood in Macao, the government decides to implement the scheme earlier in April.


UM, Chinese Academy of Sciences’s research institute, and Shenzhen University of Technology hold forum to promote collaboration in talent development and scientific research

The University of Macau (UM) and Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) recently held their first forum, showing that the partnership has reached a new level. During the forum, both parties had in-depth discussions on launching joint training programmes, information technology, life sciences, and other related topics. Both parties expressed hope to combine their strengths to deepen cooperation between Guangdong and Macao, in order to develop the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into a leading international centre for technology transfer.


UM to hold seminar on relations between China and lusophone countries next Tuesday

The University of Macau (UM) will hold a seminar titled ‘Global Governance and the Development of Relations between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in the New Context’ on 13 April (next Tuesday). Renowned experts and scholars from Macao and the mainland will attend the seminar and discuss topics related to global governance in the new context, the Chinese path, and relations between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. The seminar will be open to the public. All are welcome.


Cross-border arbitration service available at Consumer Mediation and Arbitration Centre

The Consumer Council resolved a consumer dispute that took place in Macao for a tourist in Guangzhou via the mediation and arbitration mechanism of the Macao Consumer Mediation and Arbitration Centre. The convenient cross-border service of the Centre helps to increase tourists’ confidence in visiting Macao.


“Memory of the Past – Exhibition of the Macao Museum Postcards Collection” extended until 30 May

The Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has organized the exhibition “Memory of the Past – Exhibition of the Macao Museum Postcards Collection”, which has attracted many visitors and tourists since its opening in September last year. In order to allow more people to view the treasures of the Macao Museum’s collection, the exhibition will be extended until 30 May, and everyone is welcome to continue to visit it.


Islands District Public Services Centre relocated to Macao Government Services Centre in Islands

To comply with the policy of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, the Islands District Public Services Centre of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has been relocated to the “Municipal Affairs” Zone in Macao Government Services Centre in Islands situated in Rua de Coimbra, n.º 225, 3.˚ andar, Taipa from April 1, 2021, to continue with provision of services to the public.


Residential Property Price Index for December 2020 – February 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for December 2020 - February 2021 decreased by 1.7% over the previous period (November 2020 - January 2021) to 263.1. The indices for the Macao Peninsula (262.8) and Taipa & Coloane (264.5) dropped by 1.7% and 1.5% respectively.


Vaccination programme to be extended to two more groups of Macao inhabitants

Macao’s COVID-19 vaccination programme will – from 10am on Friday (9 April) – accept registrations either from non-locals studying in Macao tertiary education institutions, and those people that are not holders of Macao ID document but are permitted to stay in Macao.


MPI Students Exploring Entrepreneurship Opportunities by having Enterprise Field Trip

In order to enhance university students’ spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation, Macao Polytechnic Institute has recently organised an entrepreneurial seminar named “Positioning Strategy for Startups: Made in Macao”. Chaired by the Managing Director of Macau 853 Mask Factory, Mr Jacko Lai shared his own entrepreneurship experience and escorted students to visit his mask factory to strengthen their understanding of Macao’s current entrepreneurship and business environment.


Macao welcomed nearly 100,000 visitors during Easter and Ching Ming Festival Holidays

The three-day (3 – 5 April) Ching Ming Festival Holidays of the Mainland fell between the Easter Holidays (2 – 6 April) this year. During the five-day holidays, Macao welcomed nearly 100,000 (99,568) visitor arrivals, with an average daily volume of almost 20,000 visitors (19,914). The average hotel occupancy rate was 53.1%.
