Monetary and financial statistics – February 2021

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply held steady in February with a stable share of patacas. On the other hand, both resident deposits and loans decreased from a month earlier.


The registration period for the exchange of the Rat and Ox Zodiac banknotes and the 20th Anniversary of the Return to the Motherland of Macao banknotes terminating this Friday

The online registration period for the exchange of the Rat and Ox Zodiac banknotes and the previously issued 20th Anniversary of the Return to the Motherland of Macao banknotes will end at 6:00pm on 9 April 2021 (Friday). The Monetary Authority of Macao would like to remind those citizens who are interested in exchanging for the said banknotes to complete the registration process before the mentioned deadline.


Bib collection for the 2021 Sands China Macao International 10K to start tomorrow

The 2021 Sands China Macao International 10K, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, will be held on 11 April. The two race categories, namely Fun Run and 10K, will start at 0700 and 0730 respectively at Sai Van Lake Square. Both races will finish at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium.



Macao Grand Prix Museum opens to the public for the first day Enjoying high popularity during trial operation

Upon completion of expansion construction, the Macao Grand Prix Museum under Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)’s management is open partially for trial operation. Today (2 April) marks the first day of public admission to the Museum. Residents and visitors alike enjoyed various exhibits and interactive multimedia facilities about Macau Grand Prix.

There have recently been various news reports concerning TDM (Teledifusão de Macau, S.A), the public broadcaster of the Macao SAR. Operating in accordance with its own charter, its management has the ability to address and resolve any internal matters concerning its own administrative affairs.


31st Macao Arts Festival offers additional performances of several shows Tickets on sale from this Saturday

The 31st Macao Arts Festival (MAF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be held from 30 April to 29 May. Since the first day of ticket sales, tickets for a number of programmes have been highly sought after. Considering the public’s overwhelming response, additional performances will be offered for the most sought-after shows. Tickets for the additional performances will be on sale simultaneously through the Macau Ticketing Network outlets, telephone and online booking from 10am on 3 April (Saturday). Early bird discounts are available until 4 April (Sunday) and the public should take this opportunity and buy tickets as soon as possible as tickets are limited and subject to availability.


First phase of data collection for 2021 population Census begins on 1 April

Most countries or territories conduct a population census every ten years, as in line with international practice, to collect detailed information on demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. Macao is going to conduct its 16th Population Census and the 6th Housing Census (hereinafter referred to as 2021 Population Census) this year. The 2021 Population Census covers the entire population of Macao and data collection will be carried out in two phases.


Macao Chinese Orchestra presents the concert “The Future Conductor” in April

The concert “The Future Conductor”, part of the special production series of the Macao Chinese Orchestra (OCHM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, originally scheduled to be held at the Dom Pedro V Theatre on 23 April (Friday) at 8pm, will be relocated to the Macao University Hall (N2), according to the requirements of the programme. This concert, led by Music Director of the Macao Chinese Orchestra Liu Sha, will count with the cooperation of students from the Conducting Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
