Macao Chinese Orchestra presents the concert “The Future Conductor” in April

The concert “The Future Conductor”, part of the special production series of the Macao Chinese Orchestra (OCHM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, originally scheduled to be held at the Dom Pedro V Theatre on 23 April (Friday) at 8pm, will be relocated to the Macao University Hall (N2), according to the requirements of the programme. This concert, led by Music Director of the Macao Chinese Orchestra Liu Sha, will count with the cooperation of students from the Conducting Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.


Government response to U.S. human rights report mentioning Macao

Regarding media enquiries about content relating to Macao carried in the “2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices”, lately issued by the Department of State of the United States, the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government states the following:


Macao Grand Prix Museum will open to the public tomorrow for trial operation

Upon completion of expansion construction, the Macao Grand Prix Museum under Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)’s management has partially come into trial operation. The Museum will open to the public tomorrow (2 April). Ticket holders are kindly reminded to visit the Museum at their scheduled time slots on corresponding dates.


“Macao Week in Hangzhou” fully radiates Macao’s dynamic as a healthy destination “Tourism+” colorful dimensions attract visitors to Macao

The “Macao Week in Hangzhou” was staged smoothly for four consecutive days (26 – 29 March), actively spotlighting Macao as a healthy, safe and quality destination to attract Mainland visitors for travel and spending in Macao. Held at Hubin Pedestrian Street in Hangzhou, the mega roadshow showcased the city’s diverse offer of travel experiences, commercial opportunities and colorful dimensions of “tourism+”. The event attracted residents and visitors in Hangzhou in tandem with extensive promotions via different channels including social media which aroused fervent interest of Mainland netizens towards the “Macao Week”.



“2021 hush! Summer Concerts” – Call for proposals of local products booth operators

The event “2021 hush! Summer Concerts”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), will be staged from 26 June to 11 July in various coastal performance sites. “Listen to hush! in the Tent” will be held at the Macau Science Centre Plaza on 10 and 11 July 2021, featuring a variety of pop music performances and nearly 100 booths with local products and gastronomic specialities. The call for proposals of booth operators is running from 1 to 30 April, and interested parties are welcome to apply.


Plastic tableware tested for extractable substances 30 samples from 15 places all satisfactory

Food delivery service is very common, to ensure the safety of takeaway plastic tableware used by food outlets, the Consumer Council and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) tested 30 samples of plastic tableware collected from 15 food outlets to test their contents of extractable substances. Details of the report has been published in issue 331 Consumer Report.


Transport and communications statistics for February 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 244,313 as at end-February 2021, up by 1.5% year-on-year. Light automobiles (111,606) and heavy motorcycles (103,171) grew by 1.8% and 3.2% year-on-year respectively. As vehicle registration services were suspended for a period in February last year, new registration of motor vehicles in February this year jumped by 110.3% year-on-year to 917, of which heavy motorcycles (445) and light automobiles (435) surged by 131.8% and 95.9% respectively. In the first two months of 2021, new registration of motor vehicles increased by 62.6% year-on-year to 2,194. Number of traffic accidents in February totalled 919, with 280 persons injured. In the first two months of 2021, there were 2,117 traffic accidents, which caused 676 injuries.


Macao SAR: Firm support for NPC’s amending of annexes to Hong Kong’s Basic Law

The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government expresses its firm support and backing for the adoption, approved by the National People’s Congress (NPC), of amendments regarding Annexes I and II to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong SAR.


Opening of Pre-qualification Documents for Lot P Temporary and Home Swap Housing Project

Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) yesterday (29 March 2021) opened the pre-qualification documents for the construction of Temporary Housing and Home Swap units on Lot P. A total number of 12 pre-qualification documents were received, comprising two independent companies and 10 joint ventures, with a total of 28 companies involved. Those documents were basically accepted, with eight of the applications requiring supplementary documents.
