“Macao Week in Hangzhou” is poised to come into spotlight Promotional campaign for the safe and quality destination creates lively vibe

The mega roadshow “Macao Week in Hangzhou” is about to be unveiled in Hangzhou this evening (26 March) to promote Macao as a healthy, safe and quality destination and attract more Mainland residents for travel and spending in Macao. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has strenuously geared up for the event and rolled out an extensive promotional campaign online and offline through various channels to create a strong buzz for the roadshow and further brand Macao as a healthy destination.


CE to attend Legislative Assembly session on 13 April

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, will attend a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly on 13 April to answer Legislative Assembly members’ questions on Government policy and social issues.


First CATTI Test Location in Macao and Hong Kong established at Macao Polytechnic Institute

Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and the CATTI Program Project ManagementCenter of the Chinese Foreign Language Publishing Administration (the Center) held an online cooperation agreement signing ceremony on March 25, 2021.Prof. ImSio Kei, President of MPI, and Ms. Feng Jingyi,Legal Representative of the Center signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties. The two parties will jointly promote the establishment of the first China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters (CATTI) test location in Macao and Hong Kong at MPI and hold the first Chinese-Portuguese and Chinese-English tests here in June this year, which is also the first Chinese-Portuguese test in CATTI history.


Career and Internship Fair provides 2,800 job vacancies, UM helps graduating students find jobs via various channels

The University of Macau (UM) today (25 March) kicked off the Career and Internship Fair 2021. Approximately 100 companies and organisations participated in this year’s fair, providing over 2,800 job vacancies. To assist graduates in finding a job, the university has also organised 25 related events, including recruitment talks, career preparation seminars, and career exploration and training workshops. In addition, the university created a dedicated website to provide online career guidance and employment information for students.


Tickets for the 31st Macao Arts Festival on sale from Sunday Various ticketing channels available simultaneously

The 31st Macao Arts Festival (MAF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), will be held from 30 April to 29 May. Tickets will be available through the Macau Ticketing Network from 10am on 28 March (Sunday). Diverse ticketing channels, including ticketing service at the outlets, telephone and online booking, will be launched simultaneously. In order to cooperate with the epidemic prevention and control measures, to reduce crowd gathering onsite and to safeguard the public health, an online reservation system has been set up for the first day of ticket sales. Those who want to purchase tickets at the outlets from 10am to 3pm on the first day of ticket sales are required to reserve their ticketing slot through the online reservation system.


Registration for creative handicraft workshops of the “Tap Siac Craft Market” in spring is now open

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), the “Tap Siac Craft Market” will be held from 16 to 18 April and from 23 to 25 April at Tap Siac Square, featuring various creative handicraft workshops. The fee for each handicraft workshop is MOP50. All interested parties can register for the workshops through the Tap Siac Craft Market website from 26 March.


MGTO and IPIM ride on Macao Week in Hangzhou to hold trade presentation seminar

Riding on the “Macao Week in Hangzhou” roadshow to be unveiled tomorrow (26 March), Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organized a Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminar in Hangzhou today (25 March) and led a travel and MICE trade delegation from Macao for participation. Industry partners in Hangzhou were offered an update on Macao’s tourism and MICE industry trends. The seminar not only enhanced trade exchange and cooperation between the two cities and promoted “tourism + MICE” integration across sectors, but also raised Macao’s profile as a healthy, safe and quality destination.

UM professor wins outstanding achievement award from Ministry of Education

Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the list of winners of the Eighth Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research in Higher Education (Humanities and Social Sciences). A research article titled ‘Explaining Urban Economic Governance: The City of Macao’ , by Dr Sheng Li, a full professor of political economy and public policy in the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Social Sciences, stood out from a vast number of entries across the country and won the second prize in the research paper category of the award. This work was previously published in the journal Cities in 2017, an authoritative top journal in the field of urban studies, and has aroused widespread interest among many urban research scholars and economists.


Diploma programme co-organised by UM and Sands China ends with success

A one-year diploma programme in business management, co-organised by the University of Macau’s (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and Sands China Ltd, has ended with success. Recently, the CCE and Sands China held a graduation ceremony for the fifth (2018-2019) and sixth (2019-2020) cohorts of students who completed the programme. A total of 46 graduates received certificates.
