The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (SKL-IoTSC), and Institute of Collaborative Innovation (ICI) recently held the International Conference on High Performance Big Data and Intelligent Systems (HBPD &IS) and the 2021 Macao Symposium on Cloud Computing and Intelligent Driving (CCID). Both events involved in-person and virtual elements, and attracted nearly 120 participants, including scholars, researchers, and students, from around the world. The three-day conferences provided a platform for participants to share their research results and exchange ideas on academic affairs and technological innovation.

The Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and the University of Bologna (Unibo), Italy jointly launch the first dual doctoral degree programme in Macao. The programme aims to further strengthen the cultivation of high-calibre innovative talents in the field of information technology and engineering in line with the Macao SAR government’s policies as well as the development of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Greater Bay Area. Graduates will be awarded with respective doctoral degrees by both higher education institutions.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-ordinated by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM), the “Style．Encounter Moment” Fashion Parade of the Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making will be held during the Macao Fashion Festival 2021 in Hall B of The Venetian Macao, at 4pm on 12 December (Sunday). Admission is free and the public is welcome to appreciate local fashion design, thereby gaining a better understanding of the development of Macao’s fashion industry.

Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) recently published the second issue of 2021 of Global Gaming & Tourism Research. This current issue of the Journal covers nine academic papers on gaming and tourism with contributing authors from Mainland China and Macao. The journal aims to promote the sustainable development of the gaming and tourism industry. In addition to providing support for science-based decision-making across the public and gaming sectors, this academic journal seeks to serve as an exchange platform for gaming and tourism research work.

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for August - October 2021 decreased by 0.1% over the previous period (July - September 2021) to 269.0. The index for the Macao Peninsula (269.7) fell by 0.3% while that for Taipa & Coloane (266.0) rose by 0.5%.
