Social Security Fund’s System Maintence on This Saturday, Its Website and Self-Services May be Affected

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) will perform network system maintenance on 16th May (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.. Members of the public are advised to note that the FSS website, and the FSS computer programme installed in the self-service machines may have a delay or a temporary interruption of service during this time.


UM students’ graduation works tell stories of Macao residents during the epidemic

The University of Macau (UM) Department of Communication recently published the latest issue of the student magazine Communicator, which is titled ‘A Tale of Macao During the Pandemic’. Produced by fourth-year students of communication studies, this issue contains interviews with more than 20 Macao residents on their everyday life in Macao during the epidemic.


MGTO completed Macao Tourism Branding and Media Effectiveness Evaluation of Four Mega Events in 2019

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has completed the “Macao Tourism Branding and Media Effectiveness Evaluation of Mega Events” of 2019. Four major events, namely the Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Pig, the 30th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, the 4th International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao and the Macao Light Festival 2019, all reached a high level of public awareness and a good to great level of satisfaction, reflecting media’s and netizens’ satisfaction and relatively strong awareness towards the events.


Macao nucleic acid-test scheme extended to mainland passport holders and mainland exit-entry permit holders

Macao’s standard scheme enabling human nucleic acid testing for COVID-19 infection has been extended from today. It is now available to holders of mainland China passports and holders of mainland-issued exit-entry permits, who wish to make cross-boundary trips between Macao and Zhuhai either for business, a family visit, or work.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – April 2020

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP179.0 billion (USD22.43 billion) at the end of April 2020. The reserves increased by 1.4% from the revised value of MOP176.6 billion (USD22.11 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-April 2020 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 82.8% of pataca M2 at end-March 2020.


Macao SAR Appointed as Co-Chair of Asia/Pacific Joint Group by International Anti-Money Laundering Organization

With the approval of all members of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the international anti-money laundering/counter terrorist financing (AML/CFT) standard setting body, the Director of the Macao Financial Intelligence Office (GIF) was appointed unanimously earlier as the Co-Chair of the Asia/Pacific Joint Group, which is a regional subgroup of FATF’s International Co-operation Review Group (ICRG). This appointment not only recognizes Macao SAR’s efforts and performance in combating money laundering and terrorist financing, but also demonstrates Macao SAR’s commitment to international affairs and enhances the positive image of Macao SAR. This is being the second appointment of GIF representatives, on behalf of the Macao SAR, as the Co-Chair of the regional group.



Macao sends medical team to support Algeria’s fight against COVID-19

Macao is today sending a five-strong emergency medical team made up of local professionals to take part in China’s national effort to assist the country of Algeria in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.



Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”

To celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at our Philatelic Shop of General Post Office, from 9:00 to 12:00 on 17th May 2020 to provide the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”.
