Company statistics for the 2nd quarter of 2021
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,441 new companies were incorporated in the second quarter of 2021, an increase of 49 year-on-year. Newly incorporated companies operating in Wholesale & Retail Trade and Business Services totalled 467 and 388 respectively. Total value of registered capital of the new companies surged by 108.6% year-on-year to MOP231 million. Companies in dissolution totalled 201 in the second quarter, and the value of registered capital of these companies amounted to MOP75 million.

CE: Government devoting utmost effort to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak
The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today said the Government has taken a series of measures aimed at preventing and if necessary controlling any possible outbreak of COVID-19 in the community, after the identification of new infection cases. The target was to regain control of the local epidemic-related situation at the earliest opportunity.

Judiciary Police (PJ) verifies an online rumour
A photo of 5 police officers of the Public Security Police Force and outsourced cleaners from the Municipal Bureau wearing protective clothing was uploaded on a social media platform. The Judiciary Police (PJ) noticed a comment claiming those in the photos had contracted the virus, and it was later verified by PJ as untrue. Its content is suspected to have breached Article 26 of Law no. 11/2020. The Judiciary Police will investigate the incident according to law. Anyone who disseminates false information like the one mentioned earlier may face criminal charges.

Certain entertainment establishments in Macao to be closed temporarily from tomorrow and IAM continues with inspection of establishments subject to its regulation
In accordance with the Chief Executive Writ of Instruction, in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus in Macao, multiple business establishments are required to be closed starting from midnight on 5 August 2021, including those granted licenses or permits by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM): cinemas, theatres, indoor playgrounds, amusement game and electronic game rooms, cyber cafes, billiard rooms, bowling alleys and beauty parlours. IAM will continue with the inspection of such establishments and request them to cooperate in the anti-pandemic work of the Macao SAR Government.

Indoor facilities and venues of IAM temporarily closed to the public from today (4 August)
In view of the latest situation of the novel coronavirus pneumonia and to facilitate prevention and control work, the activity centres in various districts, indoor facilities and venues, as well as the Guia Hill Cable Car under the management of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) are temporarily closed to the public starting from 4 August until further notice. During the period, the activities and interest classes held at the venues concerned are also suspended. Outdoor facilities such as parks, gardens and leisure areas, remain open as usual. The public are advised to pay attention to the arrangement.
