Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”

To celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at our Philatelic Shop of General Post Office, from 9:00 to 12:00 on 17th May 2020 to provide the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”.


Mortgage loans statistics – March 2020

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both increased in March 2020. With regard to the outstanding balances, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed increases.


UM students develop interactive mobile app

Three students of the University of Macau (UM) recently developed a practical mobile interactive applet called ‘UMor’ for their teachers and classmates. Users can obtain useful information through the ‘chat’ function. The applet can also be applied in the tourism industry.


The DSEJ Announces the Arrangements for Class Resumption for Primary Schools and Provision of Comprehensive Services by Tutorial Centres and Continuing Education Institutions

The Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia epidemic has continually stabilised. Senior secondary and junior secondary educational stages of non-tertiary education schools resumed classes on 4th May and 11th May respectively. During this period, the DSEJ has maintained close communication with schools and sent staff members to visit schools that have resumed classes to learn about and support their operations. At the same time, the DSEJ also sent staff members to the border gate inspection building to observe the immigration clearance of cross-border students on the early morning of 11th May. As seen from the scene, students went through customs smoothly. On the whole, secondary schools have resumed classes smoothly, epidemic preventive measures have been strictly implemented, teaching staff and students have gradually returned to normal school life.


Demographic statistics for the 1st quarter of 2020

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the total population as at end-March 2020 rose by 16,500 quarter-to-quarter to 696,100. The increment was driven by an increased number of non-resident workers living in Macao as some of those initially living outside Macao moved back to the city before the latest entry restrictions took effect on 20 February. Among the total population, 52.2% (363,400) were females.


Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau launches new mobile application “My Library”

In response to the SAR Government’s electronic service initiative, the Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) has launched the new mobile application “My Library”, which features several functions such as reserving and renewing library items, searching items in the library catalogue, and using the Electronic Library Card. By introducing more convenient measures, the Library seeks to encourage residents to use library resources and services, thereby promoting reading habits in the community.


Macao non-resident workers from Zhuhai eligible for exemption from 14-day Macao medical observation

Holders of one of two Zhuhai-issued forms of documentation and who are also registered as a non-resident worker in Macao, are eligible – with certain conditions – for exemption from a 14-day period of medical observation when re-entering Macao.
