Government asks Legislative Assembly to suspend discussion of two bills

The Government has submitted a letter to the Legislative Assembly requesting it to remove from its agenda the discussion of two Government-proposed bills. The two bills are: amendments to the Budget for the Fiscal Year of 2019 and amendments to the Law on Combating Computer Crime.


UM entrepreneurial teams share brand building experience with Greater Bay Area

Members of four entrepreneurial teams from the University of Macau (UM) recently shared their brand building experience at the Forum on China and Franchise Business Opportunities of International Brands. During the event, they discussed financing for franchise businesses and the use of innovative technology. The live streaming of the sharing session gathered over 410,000 views in mainland China, including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The event aimed to increase mainland investors’ understanding of the UM entrepreneurial teams’ brand philosophy and franchise ideas.


Committee for Development of the Commercial and Trade Cooperation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Holds the Fourth Meeting

The Committee for Development of the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries held today (5th August) its fourth plenary meeting. The meeting was headed by the Committee’s Chairman, the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, Mr Chui Sai On. During the meeting, participants reviewed the work and progress made by the Committee since the fourth quarter of 2018 regarding the positioning of Macao as a commercial and trade co-operation service platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries (PSC). Members also discussed future work arrangements and development prospects.

Monetary and financial statistics – June 2019

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply retreated in June with a stable share of patacas. Meanwhile, resident deposits dropped from a month earlier whereas loans to residents posted an increase.

Company statistics for the 2nd quarter of 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,665 new companies were incorporated in the second quarter of 2019, a decrease of 55 year-on-year. Meanwhile, total value of registered capital soared by 879.6% to MOP2 billion, due to the incorporation of companies with large capital in the Transport and Wholesale & Retail sectors. Analysed by industry, there were 529 newly incorporated companies operating in Wholesale & Retail Trade and 395 in Business Services. Companies in dissolution totalled 211 in the second quarter, and the value of registered capital of companies in dissolution amounted to MOP76 million.


DSI launched the transfer service for Certificate of Association and Foundation

To be in line with the SAR Government’s “one stop service” policy, the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) launched the transfer service for Certificate of Association and Foundation on 5 August 2019. Through the collaboration amongst departments, this service will further optimise the public administrative formalities and department’s administration efficiency.
